Amador Expands Covid Vaccine Eligibility to All Adults

Sutter Creek, CA...Amador County Public Health reports 29 more cases of COVID-19 since last Tuesday’s update, bringing the total laboratory confirmed case count to 1,675. The new cases include 17 males and 12 females, 3 children under the age of 18, 13 aged 18-49, 4 aged 50-64, 9 over 65 years of age; 2 residing in Ione, 12 in Jackson, 3 in Pine Grove, 7 in Pioneer, 3 residing Plymouth/surrounding areas and 2 living in Sutter Creek/Amador City. Three Amador residents are currently hospitalized.

This week, Amador County Public Health vaccination clinics are expanding eligibility to include people 18 years of age and older who live or work in the county. Vaccine appointments may be scheduled by accessing clinic registration links on the Amador County Vaccine Information webpage: https://www.amadorgov.org/services/public-health/covid-19/vaccine-information. Appointments are currently available this week on Thursday and Friday.

As more vaccine is allocated to the county, Public Health is scheduling vaccine clinics. These clinics are by appointment only. Vaccine clinics are announced via e-notification and posted on the Amador COVID-19 website: https://www.amadorgov.org/services/covid-19. To sign up for Amador County e-notification visit the Amador County website: https://www.amadorgov.org/about/e-notifications and choose “Health & Safety” notifications. Public Health is administering COVID-19 vaccine as quickly as supply is issued from the state. Jackson CVS, Safeway Pharmacy, and WellSpace continue to offer COVID-19 vaccine by appointment. CVS vaccine appointments are scheduled via their CVS COVID-19 Vaccine Website. Safeway appointments are scheduled via their Safeway Pharmacy online appointment system. Residents may also reach out to their health care provider to inquire if vaccine is available within their health care system.

Over 17,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Amador to-date. When fully vaccinated it is safe to gather indoors with other fully vaccinated people without wearing a mask; gather indoors with unvaccinated people from one other household without masks, unless any of those people or anyone they live with is at increased risk of severe illness from COVID-19. More information on recommendations for those who are fully vaccinated, visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/fully-vaccinated.html.

Even though Amador has moved from purple to red tier and our overall cases of COVID-19 have decreased, it is still critical everyone continue to practice mitigation measures. Wear face coverings while in public places. Practice frequent handwashing. Continue physical distancing – 6 feet apart – when out in public. Outdoor activities are safer than indoors. Avoid crowded, poorly-ventilated spaces. Stay home if you are ill, even with mild symptoms.
