Greater Valley Springs Advisory Group (GVSAG) Moves Forward with Valley Springs Vision

Valley Springs, CA....The Greater Valley Springs Advisory Group (GVSAG), an ad hoc group of citizens working to help create a healthy community and a healthy economy, now has revised Topic Visions and new alternatives for “Valley Springs Town Center” and “Greater Valley Springs Planning Area” maps posted on their web site. They are seeking community input to these visions, which are the first step in suggesting a community vision and ....

community boundaries to Calaveras County officials to be considered in the current general plan update. The newly revised county deadline for the visions and boundaries to be submitted is August 2008. The GVSAG has sought direction from the Community Development Agency in order to comply with county guidelines.

As the GVSAG moves forward with the visioning process for the community, everyone is invited to attend their meetings and visit the GVSAG website, www.gvsag.org. In keeping with a policy of being inclusive and broad-based, all GVSAG meetings are open and public. The next meeting will be Thursday, June 26, 7:00 p.m., at the Community United Methodist Church, 135 Laurel Street, Valley Springs. The GVSAG is looking for input from citizens, business owners, property owners, fire and police, utility operators and agricultural interests in and around Valley Springs.

The seven vision topics covered are: Community Boundaries, Economic Development, Housing, Circulation, Safety, Conservation and Open Space, and Land Use. Comments and suggestions regarding the updated vision statements, and preferences for new boundary Alternatives, may be submitted online, turned in at the next meeting, or mailed. Those without computer access may write: GVSAG, P.O. Box 1071, Valley Springs, 95252, for copies of the drafts or to submit comments.

The GVSAG is in the process of developing a survey reaching out to the community and is seeking sponsorship and individual donations to make the survey possible.

For further understanding of what GVSAG is trying to accomplish, please visit www.gvsag.org, email info@gvsag.org, attend the June 26 meeting, or call Mike Hazelhofer, 743-3987.
