Planning to Travel Internationally? Guidelines Have Changed.

Sacramento, CA... If you are planning to travel internationally please be aware beginning Jan. 26 changes will be made to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) (CDC) travel mandates.

Effective today, the CDC will require all international air passengers entering the United States (including U.S. citizens and Legal Permanent Residents) to present a negative COVID-19 test, taken within three calendar days of departure, or proof of recovery from the virus within the last 90 days. Airlines must confirm the negative test result or proof of recent recovery for all passengers prior to boarding. Airlines must deny boarding of passengers who do not provide documentation of a negative test or recovery.

Alaska, American, jetBlue, Southwest, Aeromexico and Volaris offer nonstop flights between SMF and destinations throughout Mexico. Please visit our website or contact the airlines for more information about flights
https://sacramento.aero/smf/flight-and-travel/airlines.

Please contact your airline for more information about what documentation each specific airline will require.

Travelers are encouraged to contact their accommodations for more specific information about individual locations.

Please see CDC’s FAQ for answers to questions about the new international air travel requirement for proof of negative COVID-19 test or recovery from COVID-19 for all air passengers arriving in the United States.

Travelers should be aware of State and CDC travel guidelines before making the decision to travel. SMF reminds everyone to travel safely and take extra precautions when at the airport. Passengers are required to wear a face coverings and social distance whenever possible throughout their journey. As always, it is recommended travelers arrive early in anticipation of additional security screenings. For more information visit our website.

The Sacramento County Department of Airports is responsible for planning, developing, operating and maintaining the county’s four airports: Sacramento International Airport, Executive Airport, Mather Airport and Franklin Field.
