Two Artists Scholarships Awarded by Calaveras Arts Council
Calaveras County, CA....Two scholarships totaling $1,750 have been awarded to high school seniors who will be pursuing the arts in college. The non-profit Calaveras Arts Council made the announcement following a process that began earlier this year to encourage lifelong involvement in the arts and to reward outstanding artistic talent......
Kyle Colucci of Valley Springs won the $1,000 Dr. Robert R. Coleman Memorial Scholarship. The graduating senior from Calaveras High School will be attending the University of Southern California which has a highly acclaimed performing arts program. Kyle developed extensive experiences in all levels of theatre as she was growing up, and during her interview with the Arts Council, she demonstrated her theatrical skills with a perfectly delivered monologue. Her goal is to make a successful career in acting.
Cole Przybyla-Williams of Valley Springs won the $750 Arts of Bear Valley Scholarship in Memory of Elaine Bryan. Also a graduating senior from Calaveras High School, Cole has enrolled in the University of California at Santa Cruz and plans on majoring in environmental studies and film/digital media. He has entered his photography for many years in the Arts Council’s High School Art Show and Competition, winning awards there and also in the County Fair. He is currently starting to take his photography to the commercial level producing work for realtors and creating engagement and graduation photos. Cole’s goal is to work for media such as the Discovery Channel or National Geographic.
The Artists Scholarships of the Calaveras Arts Council are open to Calaveras residents of any age, from teenagers to senior citizens who want to enhance their skills through higher education in the arts. Applications are accepted every year by April 1st. Contact the council at (209)754-1774 to receive an application.
