Capone is Your Calaveras County Animal Services Pet of the Week!

San Andreas, CA... Meet Capone, a sweet hound mix of about three years of age. A sensitive boy who startles easily to sound and sudden movement, Capone has a lot of love to give once he is comfortable with his person. He has made great strides as volunteers work with him to build confidence, though there remains room for improvement. He will need a patient person or family with older children who can provide a calm and soothing environment as they build on his trust. Capone would also benefit from obedience training, to help better learn his leash manners. We believe he is housebroken, too, since he keeps his kennel clean.

Capone seemed interested in most of the other shelter dogs we introduced him to – both male and female – and very much wants to play. If you have another dog, why not bring them by for a “meet and greet?” As with all dogs available for adoption at the Calaveras Animal Shelter, Capone is micro-chipped and up-to-date on his routine vaccinations. He will have to be neutered before going home with you.

Come visit Capone, impound no. AO51880, along with other dogs and cats awaiting their forever homes at Calaveras County Animal Services, 901 Jeff Tuttle Drive, San Andreas (in government center by the new jail). Animal Services is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday - Saturday (closed for lunch from 1-2 p.m.). For more information about this dog, please email kbandy@co.calaveras.ca.us or svavzincak@co.calaveras.ca.us, or call Animal Services directly at 754-6509. Please refer to Capone’s impound number when making inquiries. Adoptable animals may also be viewed on the web at http://animal.calaverasgov.us/Adoptions and on the Calaveras County Animal Services Facebook page.

Volunteers are also very much needed. Whether you can give a little time or a lot, we would value your help caring for shelter animals or supporting the office. No experience necessary; we will provide training and match you to your interests. Please call 754-6509 for more information.

Animal Services now has a Fee Flexibility Program!

When the dog or cat population at the shelter is at 80% or above capacity, the total adoption fee will be 50% off––reduced to $40 for dogs and $30 for cats. The adoption fee for cats who arrive at the shelter already altered will be $10. With the 55-5-5 Program, any time an adopter is 55 or older and adopts any pet over 5 years old, the adoption fee is $5.
