Reece is Your Calaveras County Animal Services Pet of the Week!

San Andreas, CA... Meet Reece, a handsome hound mix estimated to be about a year and a half old. Reece arrived at the shelter with his brother, Timber, but they do not need to be adopted together. A sweet boy who wants most of all to burrow into a cozy lap, Reece has bonded well with volunteers and was very good for his bath. He would benefit from some obedience training to help him better learn leash manner but is eager to share that he’s already learned to “sit.” He may be housebroken too since he keeps his kennel clean. Reece was interested in the other dogs we’ve introduced him to (both male and female) and wants to play. If you have another dog, why not bring him or her to the shelter for a meet and greet?

As with all dogs available for adoption at the Calaveras Animal Shelter, Reece is micro-chipped and up-to-date on his routine vaccinations. He will need to be neutered before going home with you.

Come visit Reece, impound no. AO51881, along with other dogs and cats awaiting their forever homes at Calaveras County Animal Services, 901 Jeff Tuttle Drive, San Andreas (in government center by the new jail). Animal Services is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday - Saturday (closed for lunch from 1-2 p.m.). For more information about this dog, please email kbandy@co.calaveras.ca.us or svavzincak@co.calaveras.ca.us, or call Animal Services directly at 754-6509. Please refer to Reece’s impound number when making inquiries. Adoptable animals may also be viewed on the web at http://animal.calaverasgov.us/Adoptions and on the Calaveras County Animal Services Facebook page.

Volunteers are also very much needed. Whether you can give a little time or a lot, we would value your help caring for shelter animals or supporting the office. No experience necessary; we will provide training and match you to your interests. Please call 754-6509 for more information.

Animal Services now has a Fee Flexibility Program!
When the dog or cat population at the shelter is at 80% or above capacity, the total adoption fee will be 50% off––reduced to $40 for dogs and $30 for cats. The adoption fee for cats who arrive at the shelter already altered will be $10. With the 55-5-5 Program, any time an adopter is 55 or older and adopts any pet over 5 years old, the adoption fee is $5.
