Sad News For a Small Town...Two Fatalities in Fight (Updated with names of deceased) Father & Son Perish

Angels Camp, CA...We just spoke with Angels Camp Police Chief Dale Mendenhall and he has now confirmed that there were two fatalities and one juvenile injured in a fight that broke out around 7pm Thursday. The Fight occurred right on Stanislaus Ave and spilled over onto the parking lot of an adjacent apartment complex. Crime scene investigators are on scene now and will probably remain so for the duration of the night....

The investigation is still ongoing as to the cause and reason for the fight. Notifications to family members are being carried out now. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families. (Update) Pablo Lopez Sr. & Pablo Lopez Jr. passed away enroute to the hospital. When officers arrived they found Pablo Lopez Sr. & Pablo Lopez Jr. in the parking lot suffering from apparent stab wounds. Both men were transported from the scene, but died enroute to the hospital.

Arrested at the scene was Delfino Flores-Cruz, Charging investigation of homicide. Four other suspects are outstanding...

Incidents like this one are hard on small police departments, fire departments and towns. Chief Mendenhall and most of the officers on the force have been at the crime scene most of the evening. Some members of the Angels Camp Fire Department arrived on scene to provide medical aid at the start of the incident and when the nature of the incident changed they were pulled into service for traffic control among other duties. Some of them will probably remain on scene through the night.

Other agencies have also stepped up to help. We saw a large contingent of people from the County and Sheriff's Department there to assist. The Department of Justice sent a crime scene van and crew to help as well.
