MTMC Event Focuses on Women’s Health and Relationships in Oct. 29 Virtual Workshop

San Andreas, CA...October 19, 2020 – Are you ignoring your health and/or a toxic relationship due to the pandemic crisis? The Stepping Up for Women’s Health virtual workshop can help you get on track. Many aspects of women's health will be discussed Breast Cancer Awareness, Mammograms, Routine Wellness and Reproductive Health and Minimally Invasive Genealogical Surgeries. In addition, Kelli Coane, Chief Administrative Director of the Resource Connection, will review the many local resources dedicated to Empowering Individuals Seeking Freedom from Toxic Relationships.

“We are excited that MTMC is including a focus on women’s mental health in this virtual workshop,” Coane says.
“These days, many people are dealing with feelings of isolation related to the COVID 19 crisis, but
others suffer long term from the isolation inflicted by toxic relationships. The pandemic is making bad
situations worse. We see it reflected in increased domestic violence and child abuse cases.”

She adds, “The Stepping Up for Women’s Health workshop will feature resources available through the Calaveras Crisis Center to help empower people to escape bad relationships and reclaim their lives.” MTMC President and CEO Doug Archer notes, “October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month so we felt it was important to address this timely topic in our workshop.” “We know this threat is ongoing and now, increasing due to struggles and stress associated with the pandemic.”

The agenda will include a special appearance by Tina Macuha, anchor of Good Day Sacramento on KMAX/CW 31. She was set to headline MTMC’s Steps to Kick Cancer event again this year but it has been canceled due to COVID 19. However, she continues to be engaged in MTMC efforts to raise awareness in the foothill region. Workshop participants must register in advance through the MTMC Webpage at www.marktwainhospital.org and will receive a return email with instructions for joining the Zoom session.

This virtual event will be hosted by MTMC Community Board Chair Kathy Northington, retired Calaveras County School Superintendent; and Co-hosted by Doug Archer, CEO and President of MTMC.
