Mule Creek State Prison Investigating Inmate Death as a Homicide

Ione, CA...Officials at Mule Creek State Prison (MCSP) are investigating the October 14 death of 46-year-old inmate Deandre Austin as a homicide. On Wednesday at 5:40 p.m., correctional officers responding to a call of “man down,” discovered an unresponsive Austin in his cell. Staff immediately called 911 and started life-saving measures.

A MCSP doctor pronounced Austin deceased at 6:30 p.m.

Austin’s cellmate, Rodney Jordan, was placed in segregated housing pending an investigation.

Austin was received from Contra Costa County on Oct. 2, 2008. He was serving a life sentence with the possibility of parole for rape, lewd and lascivious conduct with a child under age 14, continuous sex abuse of a child under 14, penetration with a foreign object with a victim under 14, oral copulation and sodomy.

Movement at the prison has been modified to aid the investigation. The Amador County District Attorney’s Office is assisting MCSP’s Investigative Services Unit. The Office of the Inspector General has been notified.

Jordan was received from Los Angeles County on Aug. 14, 2017. He was serving a two-year term for first-degree burglary. He was paroled on July 31, 2018 and returned from parole on Sept. 4, 2018 from Los Angeles County for a new conviction. He was sentenced to five years for second-degree robbery.

MCSP, which opened in 1987, houses more than 3,800 minimum-, medium- and maximum-security inmates. The prison, located in Amador County, provides educational, medical and mental health services.

From the mug shots, appears like a couple of very respectful and honorable citizens. Someone you would have over to your house! Changes need to be on their end for sure!

One is a goner and the other one may never see daylight. The deceased should have been in SNY for protection. The guilty party was probably ordered to do the "hit"by his own people or "card" and if he didn't, he would be hit. That's the way it is in the system. Very unfortunate for both of them. Some of these youngsters in the system see this as the only thing they know-to do time and just be in and out all the time. Ironically some guys see that doing time is a life of luxury and the state "coddles" these people. Whatever happened to the old days and the old ways when convicts (as they were all called back then) had to do hard labor all day like busting rock?

So, for those crimes a death sentence seems appropriate! Not one that takes twenty plus years but one that takes a matter of weeks. The people of California have voted for the death penalty several times I believe But our Governor knows better. Which brings up another issue. Back to the issue, it seems that the in house jury has spoken for the citizens of California!

Calif voters asked for those on death row to be "taken care of" in a vote and won, for their executions to be brought up to speed. We went through all the hoops legally and then Gavin over turned our vote.
The one that hit home for me, when I turned my back on the Democrat party was making California a sanctuary state. An illegal brutally raped my grandma when I was a little kid which ultimately caused her death and grandpa's death afterwards from loneliness, grieving, broken heart, all and more. Something I learned about decades later.
I see nothing unfortunately in it if they had prayed on women and children.
I wonder if Gavin and others who oppose had that done to one of their family?

Why do child molesters have such bad luck in prisons?

Think about that, would you want your child raped, scarred for life. But on a different note someone above posted the deceased should have been placed in SNY. What is SNY?
