Odin is Your Calaveras Pet of the Week

San Andreas, CA...Meet Odin, a confident, well-trained boy who was abandoned by his owner. A German shepherd mix, we estimate him to be between 5 and 6 six years of age. Odin is very social and bonds easily with staff and volunteers. Though he may be confused by recent circumstances, Odin still very much wants to please. He willingly obeys “sit,” “stay” and heel,” but what he adores most is a good game of ball. Odin enjoys his “people” time but doesn’t seem to particularly enjoy the company of other shelter dogs so we would recommend he be the only dog in your home. At a muscular 74 plus pounds, older children would also likely be best. We believe Odin is housebroken since he keeps his kennel clean.

As with all dogs available for adoption at the Calaveras Animal Shelter, Odin is micro-chipped and up-to-date on routine vaccinations. As he is already neutered, he is ready to go home with his new family today!

Come visit Odin, impound no. AO51677, along with other dogs and cats awaiting their forever homes at Calaveras County Animal Services, 901 Jeff Tuttle Drive, San Andreas (in government center by the new jail). Animal Services is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday - Saturday (closed for lunch from 1-2 p.m.). For more information about this dog, please email kbandy@co.calaveras.ca.us or svavzincak@co.calaveras.ca.us, or call Animal Services directly at 754-6509. Please refer to Odin’s impound number when making inquiries. Adoptable animals may also be viewed on the web at http://animal.calaverasgov.us/Adoptions and on the Calaveras County Animal Services Facebook page.

Volunteers are also very much needed. Whether you can give a little time or a lot, we would value your help caring for shelter animals or supporting the office. No experience necessary; we will provide training and match you to your interests. Please call 754-6509 for more information.

Animal Services now has a Fee Flexibility Program!
When the dog or cat population at the shelter is at 80% or above capacity, the total adoption fee will be 50% off––reduced to $40 for dogs and $30 for cats. The adoption fee for cats who arrive at the shelter already altered will be $10. With the 55-5-5 Program, any time an adopter is 55 or older and adopts any pet over 5 years old, the adoption fee is $5.
