Suspect in Sonora Shooting Death Arrested in Utah

Centerville, UT...Yesterday afternoon we received information of a man suspected in a Sonora California homicide hiding out in a camping trailer behind a residence in Centerville. The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Department in California provided us with information which led to the capture of 20-year-old Joshua Rodriguez of Tuolumne, California, shortly after midnight this morning.

A warrant of arrest was issued for Joshua Amando Rodriguez by California authorities in connection to a homicide that occurred in Sonora, CA. on September 16th. The victim of this homicide was 17-year-old Eric Aguiar who was shot and killed in the parking lot of Sonora High School.

Due to the dangerous nature of this situation, the Bountiful Metropolitan SWAT team was contacted by Centerville Police to assist with the planning and execution of the California State Warrant of Arrest and a local search warrant obtained by Centerville Police. Joshua Rodriguez was hiding out with a woman in a camper trailer located in the backyard of a residence in Centerville and was taken into custody shortly after midnight this morning.
Bountiful Metro SWAT utilized a flashbang, also known as a flash grenade or less-lethal explosive device, no one was injured, and no damage occurred to private property during this operation. Joshua Rodriguez was safely taken into custody and booked into Davis County Jail.

Following the arrest, a knife, a cell phone, and some drugs (marijuana) were collected from the scene. The female who was with the suspect was detained for an interview but released without charges. No new charges were filed by the Centerville Police Department at this time. Mr. Rodriguez will be held by the Davis County Jail pending extradition proceedings.

The Bountiful Metropolitan SWAT team is comprised of officers from Bountiful, Kaysville, Centerville, West Bountiful, Woods Cross and Farmington Police Departments. The team is managed by Bountiful Police.

Kudos to all LE people involved! One less gang banger off the streets. Nope-they're not well liked up in our country! Local history will tell you there's still a lot of vertical mine shafts here in the hills too!

What the hell’s wrong with you, dork?!? You have no IDEA who this kid actually is, or what happened in Sonora, or any damn thing at all! “Gang banger” is just some word you heard on FOX “News”. You just saw this kid’s last name and wanted to spew racism. Pathetic....

        Learn to read. Inbred.

Gang bangers are trash, no doubt. The kid who committed this murder is trash, no doubt. Whether the murderer is a gang banger is kind of irrelevant. Trash is trash.

        Summaries for simpletons. You're welcome.

First of all I'm not a dork and secondly I've been around the block a few times-I imagine a lot more than you have in all my years on this earth. You need to pay attention to the 4 tattoo which is part of the number 14 and the one was on the far side of his arm. You need to expand and look at the big picture! Do you bang? Oh I'm really scared! Historically, there are a lot of abandoned vertical mine shafts up in these hills too! We don't need these types up here and sadly there are a few of them around here already. So we ALL have to be vigilant and watchful!

What you're failing to think about is there is 1 kid dead. If this guy pulled the trigger he should be put away for life. If circumstances point to the Death Penalty, that's what this guy deserves.

Ditto! Yep! Lock him up and throw the keys away! He ought to be fried, gassed, or injected or whatever they use!
