Hospice of Amador & Calaveras’ 21st Annual “Celebrate Life” Art Auction is coming!

Jackson, CA...The 21st annual "Celebrate Life" Art Auction, the pivotal fundraiser of the year for Hospice of Amador & Calaveras, is happening virtually, on Friday, September 18. The streamed event will be accessible on Facebook Live, via the KVGC and Hospice Facebook pages. The online auction site will go live at the same time, so for attendees who do not have Facebook, there are two ways to get to the auction:

  1. go to www.biddingowl.com, click “Featured Auctions” and then “search” for “Hospice of Amador & Calaveras” OR
  2. Cut and paste the following URL into your browser: www.biddingowl.com/hospiceofamadorandcalaver
A generous group of talented local artists, dedicated volunteers and valuable raffle prize contributors, is making it possible for this first virtual event to be a night filled with as much fun and excitement as past years, all in an effort to support the Hospice of Amador & Calaveras mission to serve everyone in the community who needs quality, compassionate end-of-life care.

Broadcast straight from picturesque Karmere Winery, hosts Frank Halverson and Tammy Beilstein will guide virtual attendees through the preview and auction of hand-crafted and other auction items donated by local artists and wineries, including unique artisan jewelry, pottery, textiles, original paintings, yard art, and wine barrel furniture.

For foodies, auction items include a “Date Night for 2” provided by Bistro 49 Southern Bites that includes a 6-course food and wine pairing designed and executed by Chef KC & Chef Rodney. Other items in the food realm include “The Ultimate Backyard BBQ,” donated by Go-Go-Q by Taste Restaurant and Wine Bar, consisting of a privately catered, three-course, BBQ dinner event for 20 people, with Amador Brewery beer and two hours of live music from local favorite band, After Dark!

For those attendees who do not find an auction item to purchase, please consider supporting Hospice by participating in the last event of the evening, “I Stand for Hospice,” which will be hosted by long-time cherished Hospice supporter, Stan Lukowicz.

Hospice of Amador & Calaveras would like to thank the following Premier Sponsors: Sutter Amador Hospital, Charles Spinetta Winery and Wildlife Art Gallery, American Legion Ambulance, American Legion Post 108, Mark Twain Medical Center, Matich | Vukovich Insurance Services, Horizon Oxygen and Medical Equipment, Upcountry Pool Center, and The Estate Planning Law Center’s Gwendolyn K. Christeson, Attorney at Law. A BIG HOSPICE THANKS to All of our many other sponsors, volunteers and contributors who have donated funds, energy and items to make this night a success!

All proceeds of the event goes directly to providing care for Hospice patients and families in Amador and Calaveras counties.

The Calaveras Junior Livestock Auction did just as well online if not better, considering there weren't as many animals offered. This is an incredible community that despite our differences pulls together in difficult times. So happy you're going this route.

I think this is bad timing for this right now.

This just does not seem like the most important thing to be concerned about at the moment to me. Businesses large and small shut down for good everyday. Many more without jobs everyday. Soon food shortages far worse than we have seen yet. I could go on but there is more fallout to come.

Of course many of us will become very sick breathing the polluted air. Some nearer to the fires needing lung transplants and worse.

But hey buy some of this worthless junk because you are lucky enough to have far more money than you need and want everyone to see you WIN a prize. It just seem so callous at this time to me.

We could be burning soon too.

These states have the worst unemployment rates. (We are one of them.)

Yes a very nice event to have. My mom (late) would have been happy to see something like this. She was always involved with philanthropic activities, i.e., fundraisers for scholarships for high school senior girls here in the county. She was a retired teacher and she belonged to the AAUW along with such friends as Lucy Tryon (late), Helen Airola and Mary Mollette and many other local members of this fine organization. I can remember when they hosted and sponsored October Fest in Murphy's in the eighties and earlier.
