COVID-19 Cases Explode by 18 in Amador County Since Friday

Amador County, CA – Amador County continues to see increasing numbers of COVID-19 cases. Since Friday’s COVID-19 update, Amador County Public Health confirms eighteen additional cases in Amador County. The recent cases are due to 3 primary reasons: (1) Household or co-worker transmission (2) Travel outside of Amador County (3) Community transmission.

Amador County is currently NOT on the State County Monitoring Watch List. The “Active” case tally on the Amador County COVID-19 webpage is the closest real-time tracking of Amador’s 14-day case rate: https://www.amadorgov.org/services/covid-19/

Four of the cases reside in Ione, 6 live in Jackson, 1 lives in Pine Grove, 3 live in Pioneer, 1 lives in Plymouth and 1 lives in Sutter Creek, and 1 resides in Volcano. One of the new cases is a state correctional facility inmate. The new cases include 7 females and 11 males, 7 age 18-49, 7 age 50-65, and 4 over the age of 65. Four of the cases are currently hospitalized.

Total cases in Amador to date = 89 cases.
Total hospitalized in Amador County = 4 cases.
Total hospitalized out-of-county = 0 cases.
Total active cases = 29 cases.
Total cases released from isolation to date = 60 cases.
Cases are released from isolation when they are no longer infectious.

Personal precautions, including within the workplace, make an impact in reducing the spread of COVID-19. This includes 6-foot physical distancing and wearing masks or face coverings even during break times and commuting together. Gathering should be avoided. Vulnerable, high risk individuals are encouraged to stay home as much as possible. This includes persons over age 65 and those with chronic health conditions that put them at higher risk for severe COVID-19. All should avoid mixing with others outside your household. Avoid unnecessary travel. Stay home if you are sick. Stay home if you have symptoms and are awaiting test results.
