Manslaughter & Weapons Charges for Hayward Man in Fatal 2019 Collision

Angels Camp, CA...*UPDATE July 24, 2020* After a lengthly investigation by San Andreas CHP with the assistance of the CHP Valley Division Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) it was determined that Party #2 (Steele) was operating his vehicle in a reckless manner and caused the collision that resulted in the death of Party #1 (Tzur). The case was given to the Calaveras County District Attorney's office for their consideration and they filed one count of Felony Vehicular Manslaughter and one count of illegally possessing an assault weapon against Party #2. No further details are available at this time.

Details of the fatal collision
Party #1 (Tzur) was driving a 2002 Ford Mustang, southbound within a private driveway, north of SR-4, and preparing to enter eastbound SR-4. Party #2 (Steele) was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Camaro, westbound on SR-4, at an undetermined speed, and approaching Party #1's location. For reasons still under investigation, Party #1 unsafely entered SR-4 directly in the path of the approaching Party #2. The front of the Chevrolet collided with the left side of the Ford within the westbound lane of SR-4. The collision caused the Ford to spin out of control and leave the roadway on the south side, and the Chevrolet came to rest within the westbound lane. Both Party #2 and his passenger were transported to Modesto Memorial Hospital for moderate to major injuries. Unfortunately, Party #1 sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Alcohol and/or drugs are not believed to have been a factor in this collision. This collision is still under investigation.
