What's The Latest Scoop in Murphys?~By John Hamilton....Complete Meeting Video is Enclosed!
Murphys, CA...Want to find out the latest on the progress of the unfinished intersection? How about the back story on the New SNAC store? Is there a little Hovey in your future? Jack Kautz, Shawn Seale & Chuck Hovey were the speakers at tonight's Murphys Town Hall Meeting sponsored by the Murphys Community Club....
Jack Kautz led off the discussions and answered questions on his projects and when Caltrans will let them get back to work on the intersection at Hwy 4 & Big Trees Rd. The short version is that there was a new contact person at Caltrans that requested changes. Those seem to have been worked out and progress should resume soon. He also dispelled any notion that work still needed to be done on the bridge. He also fielded questions on the Murphys Oaks Project.
Shawn Seale did a great job letting everyone know about how the new SNAC Store came to be in Murphys. From the fortuitous Christmas drive through Murphys to the store that opened a couple of weeks ago. Shawn also mentioned how supportive everyone in town has been. The former proprietor in that location was even one of their first customers.
One of the pillars of the local wine industry Chuck Hovey talked about the start of the wine industry in Calaveas County, his 24 years at Stevenot and the new line of Hovey wines that will be launching next month. He also fielded questions on how the freeze will affect this year's yields and more.
