The Ebbetts Pass Veteran's Memorial District Ensure's Old Glory Soars Along Hwy 4

Arnold, CA...On many holiday weekends including Memorial Day & Fourth of July the Ebbetts Pass Veteran's Memorial district makes sure the flag is flying in communities along the Ebbetts Pass Corridor to honor those who have served. It is also a reminder to all of us that freedom is never free. On most holidays the local Boy Scout Troops provide the labor to raise and lower the flags before and after the holiday weekends.

About EPVMD

"The Ebbetts Pass Veteran's Memorial District covers Calaveras County from Alpine County down to right above Vallecito, and from the Stanislaus River on the south to a boundary line going toward Sheep Ranch. There are five board members, serving terms of four years at a time, with at least three of them required to be veterans and all of them required to live in the district and be registered to vote in the district. The board meets once a month at their hall in Murphys. They planned, designed and have installed many flag pole memorials at fire stations, parks, cemeteries and other locations throughout their district.

In addition they provide new flags for schools and provide individual flags for the graves of all veterans buried in Buena Vista Cemetery in Murphys. The board members also march in parades in Arnold and Murphys, carrying the flags of each branch of the service, to increase awareness of veterans."

I would be proud to be an American. But that is no longer the case . The current administration has embarrassed our great nation .

No you have never been a proud American. You're nothing but a leech off the American people. If it's so bad for you get the FUK outta here you POS.
We know who you wanted for president Monika Lewinsky's boyfriend's wife. The hag that knew her husband is a sexual predator, a rapist, and a pedophile. Being married that long, what spouse wouldn't know such things?
People like you don't love America, it's people like you who try to get all they can from the system, and have no problem burning our flag or who would urinate on our flag.
Do everyone a favor since you're not proud of being an American, LEAVE ya POS.

That is ugly and disgusting and you should be ashamed of yourself for your filthy, foolish, and ignorant opinion. Get off of Fox, Facebook, and America One. Try Reuters, NBC
News, and The Wall Street Journal, if you’re a conservative. You are RUINING the conservative cause with your foul screeds.

He is not proud to live in America. He is not a member of our community. Maybe you people need a reminding that you live in a conservative area of the state where we are proud Americans. If you aren’t, I suggest you move back to the Bay Area where you can be amongst fellow traitors.

          1. I am also from here
          2. I will remind you that when this county had industry, it was a union town.
          3. One of the most progressive state senators in CA came from West Point and was a Democrat -- the reason Highway 26 is named the Stephen Teale Highway
          4. I was originally from here, moved away to to college and get a real job. Now, like many of my compatriots, I am back. I vote Democrat. And proud to say to you red yocals: we are turning Calaveras back to Blue!

So fortunate to have this group and the Scouts displaying our flag and American pride in our area. For those who have recently purchased to honor a loved one, will the Veterans Memorial bricks be updated in time for Veterans Day? Would be so wonderful to share with family afar.

The American flag is a concrete symbol of what’s best in us, a reminder to aspire to our highest ideals, and never give in to our basest fears. Our flag really is just a symbol, albeit a very powerful one. It serves as a reminder of our ideals as a nation: equal justice under the law, mercy, sincere welcome for the immigrant, and tolerance for all races, orientations, and religions. We may not always live up to our ideals, but we are always evolving as a nation. Growing up is painful and frightening.

We should never fetishize our beloved flag-physically, it means very little without wholeheartedly supporting the radical ideals that our flag represents. Sometimes that’s painful for some of us, especially those that perceive our flag to represent an unchanged and unchanging republic.

All of us need to fiercely embrace the incredible and beautiful ideals of our flag-make it YOUR flag, whatever our wildly differing political persuasions. If you are a conservative, fly it with solemn reverence in your driveway. If you are a progressive, burn it with reverence at a protest. Never, ever succumb to forgetting that our flag represents the radical ideal of freedom FOR ALL, not just the rich, white, and entitled. Remember that our flag represents our veterans and our police and our hippies and our homeless.

Don’t let online bots and trolls steal our ideals. Don’t let Russia and COVID and looters destroy your faith in our ideals.

It’s not “faith” if you’re only faithful when it’s easy.

With sincere love and hope for our county, country and world.
-J

On the eve of the 2016 Presidential Election, Hillary Rodham Clinton looking at the popular vote, with a big smile on her face was over heard saying "This is going to be a walk in the park"
I guess Hillary never heard the phrase, Never count your chickens before they hatch.

    ....it’s who COUNTS the votes.”

Hillary Clinton won the presidential popular vote by over 3 million votes. The Electoral College strikes at the heart of democracy once again....to Putin’s glee.

Donald Trump has willfully killed nearly 130,000 American people through his shameful denial of the the facts of the COVID epidemic.

I can only imagine the lengths to which you twist yourself trying to deny these facts. It’s pathetic and mildly amusing.

Still stuck on Hillary instead of acknowledging what a mess Trump has made of everything? Domestically and on the world stage. Meanwhile, his re-election campaign seems to be about being the last Confederate president with no vision for the future. Just a few short months and this current nightmare will be over - and the civil lawsuits against Trump Incorporated can begin.

BSA Troop 343 of Murphys has been putting these flags up both in Arnold and Murphys for years. Not only is it a regular occurring fundraiser, but it's a great combination of veterans and scouts. I think Arnold has more flags up than Murphys.

Thanks Scouts for making our holiday respectful! I fought under that flag in Vietnam, as many did. Right or Wrong, it made me love freedom beyond anything most of you could imagine. I love my country and hopefully along with myself, every combat Veteran will fight to defend it.
