Of Course! This is inexcusable, period.

This is entirely the CHP and Sheriff's department's fault - they need to be there monitoring this parking issue and giving hefty tickets!! Probably won;t happen until there is a fatality on the road there, just like stop lights finally being installed after someone is killed at an intersection. This is inexcusable, period. "When the cat's away the mice will play"!!!

What a bunch of idiot Flatlanders. Tow their cars and issue citations. Just because they are in the foothills doesn't give them the right to block the roadway. Stay home in the Bay Area and stop acting like Idiots.

If action hasn’t or isn’t taken than its a green light to go ahead and continue with that behavior! Human nature at its best.

Northern California has reached the point where available recreation opportunities are insufficient to service the population so overcrowding is the result. Yosemite is a zoo. Tahoe is a zoo. Calaveras was a beautiful place but there are just too many people visiting the area. People like to think it's still the 1%...maybe it was 25 years ago, but not now.

I like the tow away option. After a violator walks up from the creek to find their vehicle gone, a hitchhike to impound, and a hefty fine to get it back, I doubt they'll park on the road again.

          TOW THEM AWAY!!!!!

No surprise, this area is a total mess. Even when it was closed, these idiots completely ignored the signs. These tourists need to learn a lesson, tow their cars and impound them. Their ignorance will cause an accident, they cross over the road when it is not even safe! Fed up with this, Calaveras County, do something to stop this madness!

I was there. I am from Valley Springs and I have a right to use our natural resources. And screw you if you can't drive around traffic.

Your car should be impounded then for impeding traffic. Valleys Springs has most of the covid-19 cases...correct?

Duh??? A person from VS admitting they were there and spreading their disease around. Is there any doubt now that that town is a menace to the future of Calaveras. Nuke it before its too late.

This is entirely NOT the fault or responsibility of the CHP or the Sheriff. Period! The fault and responsibility lie completely with the Bureau of Reclamation. It is their property. They do not have adequate parking or sanitary facilities. What the Bureau does have is an attractive nusiance which is creating both health and safety hazards for the residents of our county. The responsible county supervisor has long ignored confrontations with the Feds in favor of polishing the knobs of both Rep. McClintock and the Interior Secretary. I would hope the Board would instruct staff to inspect the site and determine what hazards exist. Should the Bureau fail to rectify existing hazards I would hope the Board would declare the site a nusiance and sue the Bureau. It's time our Board protect the citizens of the county, and cease providing free law enforcement to the Bureau.

Since this constant parking on the roadway is on-going, Public Works should take action to put NO PARKING signs along this county road.

I can remember back a few years when a reporter named Guy for the Union Democrat took it upon himself to expose Natural Bridges to the world, he continues to see himself as some kind of tour guide and has left no « Jewel » untouched. This person was the beginning of the end for Natural Bridges, maybe a capacity of 15 to 20 people, now there can be up to or over 100 people down there at one time. That article ran on the front page! He also took it upon himself to expose « Candy Rock », of corse he is from out of the area. That paper alone, and Guy have singl handedly wrecked many secrets. Now we have bedlam down there and I’m sure the Bureau has no idea what to do about it.

If the Alpine Co. sheriff can issue tickets at Lake Alpine for having one tire on or partially on the fog line, the what is wrong with the Highway patrol or Calaveras Co. Sheriff handing out tickets to unsafe parking at NB? These people in some ways are anarchists, they never yielded to the lockdown order when it was posted down there, and they continue to disregard safety down there!

Because Natural Bridges belong to the United States of Russia. Want to blame someone, blame Trump. That area belongs to him and his government. But if you want real results send an email to the real boss....Mr Vladimir at putin@mail.ru

Sheriff Rick has lost my support because his lack of enforcement of the masking. He has put the issue in the hands of business people which is wrong and dangerous.
The Murphys Hotel will have a HUGE party on the July 4th. He will not be there. This should not be allowed. Rick get your *bleep* together NOW!!!

I had to go to the hotel a week ago and looked in the bar, this was in the day. They had a no standing policy, and at the bar it was spaced out to have the distance required.
I really like the comment about the Alpine and ticketing, and when the barricades were moved and people disobeyed the "closed signs" all of those vehicles should of been towed.

The sheriff is not in charge of everything. If there is no law broken by not wearing a mask, what would you expect a police officer to do??? None of the police depts. are going to enforce the rule on masks because the rule is not a law and there is no penalty in place for not wearing a mask so there is no method of even fining people.

Wrong. A business can refuse anyone who does not wear a mask!!! If it is a policy by that business that is following a health order by a county or state official or if a patron of that business states that they are not following the order by allowing someone not to be masked entering a private business or any county or state entity must be enforced by a fine or summons. I'm not even going to mention OSHA and there policy on workers safety. Try it and see. Light a cigarette in a public business or a public building while your at it.
