Breaking News....80% of us Agree on 80% of the Issues, 80% of the Time. ~ John Hamilton

Arnold, CA...Most of you are familiar with the 80/20 rule in economics espoused by Vilfredo Pareto. What is profound is that in the decades since his death it has been found that the 80/20 rule to be accurate in almost all areas. Take any subject even the taboo ones such as abortion, race & social issues it is an almost statistical certainty that 80% of us will agree on what good policy looks like.

The real problems now as in the past is that in politics you can't get power for a party unless they can tell you there is a crisis so dear that your world will cease to exist unless you open your wallet and give them money, time and vote the party line in the next election.

That is why when the majority of us left or right look at national news, events and more it just feels off, waaay off. The 80% have been told that we must believe, act and contribute by rules the hard left 10% & hard right 10% have imposed.

If you are on the right remember your left leaning neighbor doesn't secretly want to blow up Mount Rushmore. If you are on the Left remember your right leaning neighbor doesn't want healthcare for women to be a coat hanger.

The parties and politicians have to divide us and stoke our fears otherwise we could largely ignore them, trust in the basic goodness or our neighbors and get on with our lives.

I agree, we don't have as many differences as politics would have you believe. However, when someone is in a radical cult, like Trump-ism, they are beyond reason.

How do we help more of our friends and neighbors leave the cult?

It's ok, you were tricked by a talented grifter. Admitting it is okay. I would have so much respect for a former Trumper!

Coming from the Bigoted, Racist Cult that Founded the Klu Klux Klan three different times. The same bigoted, racist party, who hired the racist, cops who murdered the latest black Americans, in the democratic run cities,in the democratic run states, where the democratic majority of the violent protestors looted, burned and vandalized HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS of private and public property, I think we should all be against the Confederate's also known today as the violent democratic party and it's cult members, who blame everyone else of today's problem, when obviously it's all started in the first place....by.......Democrats.

Put RU486 and "morning after pills" in every mini mart for under $20. If there is a complication go to any healthcare provider. This also puts rural and urban areas on same footing on abortion.

It is a choice between a woman and God. Let her make it. Take politics out of it.

We should ask the GOP and those would would insist a woman carry an unwanted pregnancy to term if they are also willing to help support that child financially and perhaps down the road in an education. Because you're certainly not supporting current social programs for those that need the extra help.

Ironically if you look in history at Marxist and Fascist governments the result for the proletariat they both say they are fighting for you end up bondage, starvation and death. John-
That is why when the majority of us left or right look at national news, events and more it just feels off, waaay off. The 80% have been told that we must believe, act and contribute by rules the hard left 10% & hard right 10% have imposed.

It is abundantly apparent the author is skewed to the right. Political prejudice out in the open.

When we see on the MSM news the facts, events, and are characterized as "waay off" the musings of the hard right and the hard left, hardly the case , unless you are inferring to Fox noise the GOP Tv channel. That is hard right. It appears The author sees the MSM and Fox as equal, when all journalism institutions- colleges have documented many times over Fox is a political tool of the Republicans thus GOP Tv. It is propaganda, the MSM - ABC, CBS, NBC are hardly equals .
To attempt to infer Fox is legitimate "news" is ludicrous, Fox may fit some people's ideology, but ideology is not journalism, neither is Fox.

Stoking the divide with analogies of "blowing up Mt Rushmore" compared to performing a self abortion is an inept analogy. One is inherently inflammatory act compared to a woman cornered into a politically caused involuntary act of desperation. Typical of the extreme right of which it appears John subscribes to.

Like Dump, an inept attempt to characterize the division between Democrats and Republicans using the extreme rhetoric so familiar to the right. Sad.

Trump is imploding. COVID, Bolton, BLM and the economy isn't coming back any time too soon. That little up and down you're witnessing on the DOW simply about day traders and hedge fund managers trying to earn a few bucks and little to do with everyday Americans. Why else do you think the greater Arnold real estate market is red hot? Bay Area folks are deciding their money is worth more in a vacation cabin than other options, along with the fact that many can now work out of their homes. Doesn't bode well for the everyday Calaveras guy or gal does it?

We all should wear face covers. The local law enforcement should enforce the mask state emergency mandate. Just for example, there were about 100,000 DUI deaths in the US over the last ten years. There were about 123,000 covid deaths in the US in the last 6 months. Law enforcement actively seeks to prevent DUI driving, even with highway sobriety checks, to protect the public health and safety. The threat to public health and safety is much higher to Covid, than DUI. There is no excuse for law enforcement to refuse to make even a modest effort to protect public health and safety with some face mask enforcement.

The world was divided by continents and countries in the beginning for a reason bigger than all of us. The agenda to push everyone to agree on the same thing will never, ever work. Thus we should seek to live with and around those that are like us and have the same beliefs. This is the only way to ever have peace again.

Here is an example of how we can start the needed change ... How about we rehabilitate all non-Blacks from Alabama and make it a sovereign nation for all African Americans. We can even change the name of the new country to "African America." To top it off, let's spend another $10B over the next 10 years to help build their nation. They keep claiming they are not free yet. Let them be free, forever!
