First Friday in the Park to Resume in Murphys June 6th

Murphys, CA....First Friday in the Park, a four-month series of family entertainment presented by the Murphys Community Club in the tranquil setting of Murphys Community Park, will kick off the 2008 season with James Faifua and Jukes providing the blues and jazz music on Friday, June 6, beginning at 5:30 p.m. “We began these programs last year because we think our beautiful park is a wonderful place for families to gather on a summer evening, to listen to good music, to partake of delicious food and beverages, and to share the ....

enjoyment of being with friends and neighbors,” states Michal Houston, MCC president. “From the size of the attendance last summer it was obvious that the people of our area agreed with us.”

For the June event food for purchase will be provided by Murphys Historic Hotel. People are encouraged to bring a blanket or lawn chairs, to buy the food and drinks the club will have on sale or to bring their own picnic dinner, and to enjoy all the park has to offer. There is no admission charge.

At the July 4 First Friday entertainment will be provided by disc jockey Hank Bischoff spinning Americana and rock and roll. Food will be offered by Sierra Hills Market.

On August 1 Alchemy Market and Café will do the catering with music provided by Matt Cullen and the Shades of Swing.

The series will conclude on September 5 with Blue Shoes, a delightful amalgam of vaudeville, Tin Pan Alley, ragtime and blues, providing the musical entertainment, and food from El Jardin Mexican Restaurant.
