Bear Valley Adventure Company Opens for Summer Season

Bear Valley, CA...We opened the store today, Saturday, May 23rd. It feels a little weird as the state is still under "Shelter In Place", but also the right thing to do for those in the area. Essential items such as gas, food, and supplies are available daily from 9am - 5pm, and our "Bear B-Que" is serving from 11am - 3pm on the weekends.

Many of our recreational activities have yet to open as the US Forest Service kept the roads to Utica, Union, and Spicer Reservoirs closed. Highway 4 over Ebbetts Pass is open to both cars and bicycles, and people are enjoying the shores of Lake Alpine. The mountain bike and hiking trails are still mostly blocked by snow, but a heatwave next week should open more paths soon.

To protect our staff, community, and guests from exposure to COVID-19, the following procedures are being implemented at the Bear Valley Adventure Company:

For customers:

  • We are providing essential needs such as gas, food, gear, and automotive supplies.

  • Recreational rentals are not available at this time.

  • Please limit your time in the store to your essential needs.

  • Customers may be asked to wait outside until healthy spacing can be provided in the store with fewer than 8 customers.

  • Customers must wash their hands before entering the store.

  • Masks are encouraged.

  • Whenever possible, please have only 1 person from your family or group enter the store.

  • If you are paying with cash, please use the copper tray provided.

  • We encourage you to use no-touch Apple Pay.

  • Please eat outside at one of our spacious picnic tables.

For employees:

  • Employees must stay home from work if they feel sick or know they have been exposed to a person infected with COVID-19.

  • Employees are welcome to wear a mask, and will be provided by BVAC if needed.

  • Employees must wash their hands frequently, at least every hour, and are encouraged to use BVAC provided hand sanitizer liberally.

  • Employees are asked to conduct and record hourly cleaning of all store surfaces on the cleaning checklist.

  • Employees are encouraged to ask customers to wait outside if the store has more than eight customers inside.

  • Employees are supported in their decision to ask a customer to refrain from entering the store if they show signs and symptoms of COVID illness.

Thank you for your understanding and support.
