WILD, Rivers and Canyons, Patrice Pike, Jim (Box Set) Brunberg, Megan Slankard, and More on June 11th & 12th!~By Pride Wright....Short Video Clips Enclosed of 2006 Concert From ThePineTree
Murphys, CA....Greetings, music lovers! Want to give you a heads-up on two nights of acoustic fundraising bliss we're cookin' up for you this June 11 and 12. We'll have Patrice Pike (with stellar guitarist Matthew Johnson), Jim Brunberg (from Box Set), Megan Slankard, and a couple of exciting soon-to-be-announced surprises. More on the music in a second, but first you should know that all proceeds will go to the Wilderness Institute for Leadership Development, or more charismatically, WILD. WILD's mission is to educate and inspire the next generation of.....
We have a couple of short video clips we took from the 2006 concert they did at the Bart! The first of Megan and the second of Patrice
environmental stewards. The group will offer a spectrum of courses for both high school and college students, and each week-long course will take place with a spectacular and imperiled natural setting somewhere in the world as the backdrop. I'm helping coordinate a sustainability-themed week on the Colorado River in Utah's magnificent Cataract Canyon. "Mentors" will include two absolutely dynamic teachers: eco-poet and permaculture expert Trathen Heckman as well as green building expert and activist Nathaniel Corum. Our
dear friend Megan Slankard will join us to add a musical dimension to what promises to be an amazing week. For bios, a curriculum description, trip itinerary, etc. check out the following URL. And if you know of a budding college-age activist (or his or her parents), please forward this information along!

To raise money in support of this worthy program, we invited Megan Slankard to play a solo acoustic show at the Black Bart Theatre in Murphys featuring a whole bunch of tremendous new material from her forthcoming CD. Then it turns out our old friend Jim Brunberg from Box Set will be in Northern California that week, and he offered to come play a set. Many of you will remember the scintillating shows we used to have with Box Set at both the Bart and out at Stevenot Winery. Jim's out on his own now, and as you might imagine, he plays a wonderful acoustic set. As if that isn't enough, Patrice Pike is also on tour in California that week, and she too offered to come play a set with her band's lead guitarist, Matthew Johnson. We're also working to confirm a couple of sweet surprises. With all of this talent, we couldn't hold it to one night, so we're going back-to-back at the Bart on June 11 and 12. The
two shows will be completely different, so mark your calendar and stay tuned for ticketing details. I truly believe these will be the best two shows we've ever had at the Bart. Going to be fun.
