National Toddler Immunization Month....Parents Urged to Stay on Track with Immunizations

San Andreas, CA.....The Calaveras County Public Health Department is joining the California Department of Public Health and the federal Centers for Disease Control in encouraging timely infant and toddler immunizations. Toddler Immunization Month is an annual observance emphasizing the need to fully immunize children ages 2 and younger against vaccine-preventable diseases. This year, Calaveras County is encouraging infant and toddler immunizations......
.

with the theme, “Immunizations: Stay on track for a lifetime of good health”. Children need timely immunizations to be protected from 14 different diseases. Keeping kids protected from diseases such as whooping cough and measles also protects the community.

Immunizations are among the most successful and cost-effective public health tools available for preventing disease and death. High immunization coverage levels in a community translate into a healthy community.

“We can now protect more children and adults in California from more diseases than ever before,” said Dean Kelaita, M.D., County Health Officer.

“Unprotected children not only have higher risks of getting serious diseases but they can be a source of infection to members of the community who cannot be immunized due to age, personal beliefs or medical reasons. Take the time to keep your children on track with immunizations to ensure a healthy family and a healthy community.”

For more information about immunization clinics, call the Public Health Department or visit our Website at www.co.calaveras.ca.us.
