Cajun Maestro Tom Rigney To Perform in Sheep Ranch August 2!

Sheep Ranch, CA....Back by popular demand to supply just the right spicy style of music for the Calaveras Arts Council’s annual Cajun fundraiser will be Tom Rigney and Flambeau. The date has been set for Saturday, August 2 for the Dinner/Dance Arts Benefit which is held in Sheep Ranch at the historic Pioneer Hotel, a 90-something year old former boarding house for miners. Going to the longest-running Cajun party in Calaveras County is almost like stepping into a....

bayou setting without the humidity. When electric fiddler Tom Rigney and his band stride onto the veranda to play their “hot” danceable blend of Cajun / zydeco and rock n' blues music, you’ll hear the old hotel ghosts wake up and hoot.

Besides the toe-tappin’ music, a complete, specially-prepared Cajun dinner is served from the historic kitchen where miners once grabbed their grub. A no-host bar offers Calaveras wines, local micro brews and notorious “Cajun Kickers.”

A Silent Auction Tent featuring “experience” packages and art will make it easy to make additional donations to the Calaveras Arts Council, a 27-year-old non-profit organization that brings arts to education, free music to summer concerts, and many other valuable arts-related activities to the region.

The Cajun Fête, rhymes with “bet”, as in sure bet for a fun time, had its debut 15 years ago, every time held on the spacious shady grounds of the privately owned hotel, thanks to the generosity of its arts-minded owners. Since this limited-seating event is usually a sell-out, order your tickets now, which are a reasonable $50, a price that has stayed the same for five years. Tickets must be purchased in advance….no sales at the event. Call the Arts Council at (209)754-1774 to order by credit card, or send a SASE with your check made payable to CCAC and mail to P.O. Box 250, San Andreas, CA 95249.
