Former Bear Valley Resident & Actor Robert Conrad Passes Away at 84

Malibu,, CA...Actor Robert Conrad who was a fixture in the Bear Valley Community & in our area for many years passed away yesterday from heart failure at 84.  In addition to his hit TV Series, Wild Wild West, Black Sheep Squadron & others,   He also tried to build TV Series, High Mountain Rangers & High Sierra Rangers based partly on his time in our area including time spent volunteering with Bear Valley Search & Rescue..

His time in our area largely ended after a 2003 DUI collision on Hwy 4 that injured Conrad and led to partial permanent disability.   The collision also caused serious injuries to the party in the other vehicle.  Conrad plead no-contest to the criminal charges and served several months of house arrest and years on probation.

From Wikipedia...."Robert Conrad (born Conrad Robert Falk; March 1, 1935 – February 8, 2020) was an American film and television actor, singer, and stuntman. He is best known for his role in the 1965–1969 television series The Wild Wild West, playing the sophisticated Secret Service agent James T. West. He portrayed World War II ace Pappy Boyington in the television series Baa Baa Black Sheep (later syndicated as Black Sheep Squadron). In addition to acting, he was a singer, and recorded several pop/rock songs in the late 1950s and early 1960s as Bob Conrad. He hosted a weekly two-hour national radio show (The PM Show with Robert Conrad) on CRN Digital Talk Radio beginning in 2008.[1] "

Such a tragic choice and Kevin Burnett's life was never the same. http://www.calaverasenterprise.com/news/article_9413ee79-027a-55a2-801f-c856b1a5b1eb.html

Conrad, according to many opinions, had the classic little mans attitude. It drove his life unfortunately.

He won't be missed. Another alcoholic bites the dust. Unfortunately his drinking caused serious injuries to a young man when Conrad crashed head on on Hwy 4 due to a DUI. Conrad never admitted to it although it was his fault. Conrad was sued and the young man was compensated but he lost his life a few years later due to complications from the crash.

Every life has both good and bad. Yours and mine included. Rest in peace Mr. Conrad.

Easy to pick out those commenting here who side selfishly with the drunken mess that keeps increasing in the Upcountry. Each time you drink and/or drug and drive you create this same possible scenario.

Robert Conrad was old drunk and it was a good thing that he moved out of this area after his DUI which caused serious injuries to a young man in which he denied. If you did the crime then you do the time in which he got senseless probation instead of jail time. The residents of Calaveras and Alpine counties were a lot safer when he moved too Malibu.

Alcoholism is a disease ya know. Thank goodness it's never affected me. I drink everyday and have never caught it. Must be the good red vinegar 😉
It's also good for your health. While eating dinner and drinking wine, the wine helps your body absorb more nutrition when drinking, and no, I'm not gay, a few lbs over idea weight. About a fifth of wine with your dinner and you'll feel like a million dollars.
Rest In Peace Robert, I enjoyed your wild wild west show for years.
We all make mistakes in life that we wish we could change. One of my biggest mistakes was I voted for Obama once, I should of voted for the guy twice, but I had a disagreement with the law, actually. That's the other thing I would of changed.
So we make mistakes in life, you, me and icons like Robert. If you don't make mistakes, you do nothing, and that's a huge mistake.
Well the battery is dead

RIP

Yes, alcoholism has a grasp on YOU! But it's very easy to quit. NO alcohol is GOOD alcohol.

You don't drink and drive if you have an alcohol problem and endanger innocent people's lives. There is no excuse for drinking and driving and then don't admit to it
