You Did Not Have to Be Italian to Have Fun at the 2nd Annual "Italian Heritage Day" on Saturday!
Angels Camp, CA....As they say, "You don't have to be Italian to have fun!" The Angels Camp Business Association did it again.....They put on a wonderful day for the community! On Saturday May 3rd was the 2nd Annual Italian Heritage Day in downtown Angels Camp. The festivities started off your morning with a pancake breakfast at St. Patrick's Church then gander over to the Cavalcade of Cowboy's Parade which proceeded down the Historic District of Angels Camp. There were horses, cowboys, antique carriages and automobiles. Admission was free to the Italian Heritage Day, which was was a full day of fun for the entire family....

At 9:00am the fun began at the Museum and Saint Patrick’s Church, with lot's of great food including pasta, homemade bruisetto from Crusco's, mexican food, and of course Italian ice for the kids! There were Italian games for all to enjoy including the ever so famous Bocci Ball! Local wine was also being served. They were filled with vendor booth of all sorts including jewelry, arts and crafts, woodwork, olive oils, Supervisor Candidates and more. There was also day long live entertainment and music and activities for everyone.
This year’s Italian Heritage Day featured entertainment by the Calaveras Community Band and the operatic voice of Supervisor Russ Thomas. The Italian Heritage Day special Public Frog Jump was also back this year, as well as a special appearance by the Mountain Mischief Juggling Show. They also special demonstrations, discussions on Italian history in the Gold Country, book signings, and tours of the Angels Camp Museum.
In the Carriage House, there were showings of a 1936 CalTrans film titled “California Highways”. This ½ hour long film is a fascinating look at California’s highways and automobiles as they were 80 years ago. It was shown every hour on the hour, the film includes interesting footage of the Gold Country and Angels Camp.
