The Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee Welcomes the 2008 Junior Fair Board ~By Hanna Heath

The Junior Fair Board broadens their horizons and allows students to participate in community activities. Some of the activities include: Lost Children, Entrance Survey, Rodeo, Office Work, Livestock, Frog Jumping, Auction, Wearing the Frog Suit, and much more. Board members are required to serve a minimum of 8 hours during the four days of fair, but 90% of the students volunteer their time and work a lot more than 8. The students create and become a team, they work well together and succeed in everything they do.
For the students who are seniors and have been involved in the Junior Fair Board for four years get to apply for a scholarship. The awards are given to seniors who are pursuing their careers and plan on attending college.
For the first time ever, Kathy Campbell a parent member who was a Junior Fair Board member many years ago has her daughter on the Fair Board, Taylor Campbell, showing a second generation of participants.
When you are out enjoying the County Fair and you see a Junior Fair Board member, introduce yourself and get to know the next generation of the Calaveras County Jumping Frog Jubilee.
