Private Guiding (7 days a week)
South Lake Tahoe Rock Rock Climbing is Warming Up
The winter snowpack is receding and the granite cliffs of South Lake Tahoe are becoming exposed and ready for climbing. Already MAS has been working at Sugarloaf and the road to Phantom Spires has just opened up. Lovers Leap is getting close and should be ready in about 1-2 weeks.
Keep an eye on the MAS Calendar as we will be offering more trips in South Lake Tahoe this spring and summer. Plus private guiding & instruction can be arranged almost anytime.
MAS Guide Tip: Strength of Grip
Rock Climbing Strength of Grip
How often and quickly do your forearms get pumped when rock climbing? If the answer is too often or too quickly then it's a good idea to look at how hard your gripping the holds. It is easy to overgrip and exceed the energy required to keep you in balance and on the rock. Get into the habit of mentally checking your grip and see if you can lessen the energy expended. Practice this often and you will start to lessen your grip, conserving energy, which is especially beneficial during the crux of a climb.
MAS Promotes Carpooling to Courses
Carpooling
Starting in May 2008 all MAS course participants will have the opportunity to join an email carpool list specific to their course. This is a great opportunity to share the burden of driving and enjoy the company of your classmates. Don't let the cost of fuel prices dampen your desire for a little adventure and a lot of skill development.
