Pine Grove, CA...On Friday January 3, 2020, at around 6:30 PM, Amador County Sheriff’s Office Detectives met with Sean Purdy at the Washoe County Jail in Reno, NV. After approximately four hours of interviewing Sean, Detectives were able to obtain a confession from Sean and the location of his father’s body.

At around 11:00 PM, Amador County Sheriff’s Deputies began searching an area in Amador Pines, Pioneer, based on information from Sean.

On January 4, 2020, around 4:15 AM, deputies located a freshly dug shallow grave containing a body. Amador County Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the area and processed the scene. Around 11:00 AM Detectives were able to positively identify the body as 52 year old Lance Purdy of Pine Grove. Notification was made to the family.

The Amador County Search and Rescue team is currently searching another area of Amador County for additional evidence of the homicide.

The Amador County Sheriff’s Office wants to express our heartfelt condolences to the Purdy family and encourage everyone to be mindful of the tragedy they are enduring.

We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to the overwhelming support and assistance of the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office.
