Arnold, CA...Winter has arrived with a vengeance. Following are forecasts for the Western Slope and Mother Lode regions. The detailed forecast for West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada. Today Snow showers. Breezy. Highs 20 to 35 higher elevations... 32 to 40 lower elevations. Snow accumulation of 8 to 14 inches. Prevailing southwest winds 10 to 25 mph decreasing to 5 to 15 mph in the afternoon. Gusts up to 40 mph. Over ridges...prevailing southwest winds 15 to 35 mph. Tonight Snow showers likely. Colder. Lows 9 to 24 higher elevations...21 to 33 lower elevations. Snow accumulation of 3 to 8 inches. Prevailing southeast winds up to 10 mph.




Thanksgiving Day Mostly cloudy with a chance of snow showers. Highs 20 to 35 higher elevations...32 to 40 lower elevations. Prevailing south winds up to 10 mph.

Thursday Night Mostly cloudy with a chance of snow showers. Lows 9 to 24 higher elevations...19 to 31 lower elevations. Prevailing northeast winds up to 10 mph shifting to the southeast after midnight.

Friday Mostly cloudy with a chance of snow showers. Highs 18 to 33 higher elevations...31 to 39 lower elevations. Prevailing southwest winds up to 15 mph.

Friday Night Mostly cloudy with a slight chance of snow showers. Lows 12 to 27.

Saturday Mostly cloudy with a chance of snow. Not as cold. Highs 28 to 43.

Saturday Night Rain and snow. Heavy snow accumulations possible. Lows 24 to 39.

Sunday Through Monday Rain and snow showers. Heavy snow accumulations possible. Highs 34 to 49. Lows 26 to 41.

Detailed forecast for Mother Lode
Today Rain and snow showers in the morning, then rain showers, snow showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs 35 to 47. No snow accumulation lower elevations...1 to 7 inches higher elevations. Prevailing south winds 5 to 15 mph with gusts to around 30 mph.

Tonight Rain and snow showers likely. Colder. Lows 25 to 39. No snow accumulation lower elevations...3 to 5 inches higher elevations. Snow level 2500 feet. Prevailing southeast winds up to 10 mph.

Thanksgiving Day Mostly cloudy. A chance of rain and snow showers in the morning, then a chance of rain showers, snow showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs 36 to 48. Little or no snow accumulation lower elevations... Up to 1 inch higher elevations. Snow level 2500 feet. Prevailing east winds up to 10 mph in the morning becoming light.

Thursday Night Mostly cloudy. A chance of rain and snow showers in the evening, then a slight chance of rain and snow showers after midnight. Colder. Lows 22 to 36. Snow level 2000 feet. Light winds.

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM PST THURSDAY
ABOVE 1500 FEET...

* WHAT...Heavy snow occurring. Travel will be very difficult to
impossible. Tree branches could fall as well. Additional snow
accumulations of 2 to 6 inches, with 8 to 18 inches above 3000
feet, are expected.

* WHERE...Northeast Foothills/Sacramento Valley, Motherlode,
Western Plumas County/Lassen Park and West Slope Northern Sierra
Nevada. Includes Interstate 80 over Donner Pass, Highway 50 over
Echo Summit, and Highway 88 over Carson Pass.

* WHEN...Until 7 PM Thursday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Be prepared for significant reductions in
visibility at times. Major travel delays likely and road
closures possible. Downed trees and power outages also possible.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Storm Warning for snow means there will be snow covered
roads and limited visibilities. Travel is not recommended while
the warning is in effect. If you must travel, keep an extra
flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an
emergency.The latest road conditions for the state you are
