Copperopolis is Kick Starting Their Community Plan to Have it Included in County's General Plan
Copperopolis, CA....The town of Copperopolis held a Community Plan Meeting tonight at the Copperopolis Fire House to talk about the vision of Copperopolis. In attendance was Supervisor Russ Thomas, the Plan Community Update Committee Members, others who have contributed to the plan, CDA Director, Stephanie Moreno, Nathan Atherstone from the County Public Works Department and many local residents from Copperopolis. One of the big topics of discussion was Parks and Recreation and how to enhance the recreation and trail opportunities around the....

Copperopolis area. One of the things Supervisor Russ Thomas would also like to see is that the Copperopolis Community Plan be included in the Calaveras County General Plan.
Some of the items on the agenda that were discussed was the Kayak Park Plan and Grant; Reappointment of committee members; election of Chair and Vice Chair; Revised document discussion, and explanation of land use classification and wording changes; New Melones Lake access.
The committee and general public also discussed the final map of Connor Estates and the a Draft of the Copperopolis Community Plan Land Use Designations and proposed future land use.
Pedestrian, bike and equestrian easements have been shown to exist in several subdivisions including Copper Cove Units 1 through 8A, Lake Tulloch Shores(Poker Flat), Copper Meadows, Saddle Creek and the western shore of New Melones. The various communities have expressed opinions over the actual existence of the use, and the maintenance of the easements with some being only interested in abandoning them. Since these are private easements, not under the control of the county, the plan suggests that the possibility exists to link these older easements with future easements and in the process a valuable amenity could be created with the Planning Area and in connection with the Bureau of Reclamation pedestrian, bike and equestrian trails.
The community would also like to establish Pedestrian, Bike and Equestrian Easements that are properly designed and provide linkage to useable existing and future trails.
They also wanted to remind the general public, that the Parks and Recreation meets the second Tuesday of the month, at 6:30pm at the conference room of the Copperopolis Fire Station and encourages everyone to attend. For info on these meetings you can email: copperparks@yahoo.com.
The next Community Meeting will be held on May 2nd at 6:30pm at the Fire House.
