The Community Comes Together for a Heart Warming Fundraiser ~By Hanna Heath
Angels Camp, CA...Calaveras Lumber of Angels Camp hosted "Friends of Ingrid Lundgren" Spring Gala Fundraiser, today from 10am-3pm this afternoon. Event included Dunk Mike Fulloway (Owner of Calaveras Lumber), Mechanical Bull Riding, BBQ, Kids Bouncy Castle, Silent Auction and Raffle Prizes. Ingrid Lundgren has been fighting colon cancer for the last 4 years. She has recently been hospitalized due to complications and is now back in the hospital with double pneumonia…..
The fundraiser provided a BBQ of hamburgers, hotdogs, and BBQ beef, sodas, waters, salads, chili beans for $7.50 per meal. Much of the food was donated by Sierra Foods, Angels Food Market, and Save Mart of Angels Camp. The Silent Auction included (golf packages from our local golf resorts), 5 nights at the Hilton Kaui Beach Resort, 2 hour plane ride over Yosemite for 4, and many more. A $1,000 Cash Raffle was also drawn and was on sale at Calaveras lumber for the past several weeks.
Ingrid has worked in the lumber and retail hardware business in Tuolumne and Calaveras County for over 20 years. She worked at Andy's in Sonora for many years and joined the Calaveras Lumber family two years ago.
When Ingrid was first hospitalized at the end of February, a group of employees came together to organize a fundraiser to help offset the costs of battling this disease. The employees also donated over 250 hours of their sick time benefits for when she was able to return to work.
“Ingrid has been overwhelmed with all the support, she says that she has never had such a wonderful family,” shared friend Eileen Hoover. A young girl, Brianne Ziehlke has survived cancer and donated her time to arrange the bake sale for today’s event.
The Pine Tree gives our blessings to the Lundgren family and many wishes to Ingrid, you have been an inspiration for many people.
