"Dueling Documents"...The Ray Waller Saga Continues...Let the Disclosures Begin

San Andreas, CA....The Ray Waller Saga has erupted into the pages of local newspapers and onto the web yet again. The Stockton Record and the Calaveras Enterprise initiated public records requests to get additional details on the events surrounding Mr. Waller's dismissal. We have also been forwarded additional documents from Mr. Waller in response to the county documents. This is probably just the start of disclosures in this case. We understand that efforts may be made in the next week to release into the public record additional documentation on this case as well. This is a case that just seems will not go away...

After over a year, it continues to remain one of the most discussed events in the county. It still has the potential to affect elections and it has already affected many careers and is no doubt still a consistent topic of discussion in the county government offices.

In looking back one can't help but wish that Mr. Waller's dismissal could have been handled in a manner similar to what transpired in our neighboring county to the South. After the Tuolumne County Sheriff Elections, it became apparent that the former contestants could not work effectively together for the betterment of the department. A deal was worked out to have one of the men leave the department. It did cost the county a significant sum of money but it was by most accounts clean and quick. No battling for public opinion or daily blood letting. In the long run it was probably much cheaper not only monetarily but emotionally as well. The county could return to doing the county's and the people's business without needless distractions.

This case and others while no doubt doubly wrenching for the parties involved, has also cost the county significantly to pursue. Not only has it cost the county fiscally but it also in time and emotion as well. There are no winners in this battle. Whatever the eventual outcomes the costs continue to be paid by everyone involved.

We believe strongly in an open transparent county government. That is why we have maintained over two years of Board of Supervisors Meeting Video and we try to post documents on ThePineTree.net in their entirety. We have tried to provide below links to not only the county documents but to Mr. Waller's Responses as well. We will post additional documents on this issue as they become available. The links to the documents are as follows.
