Jon Stewart says Congress 'Should be Ashamed' Over Inaction on Helping 9/11 First Responders

Washington, DC....From PBS..."Jon Stewart, the former host of "The Daily Show," appeared before a House committee in Washington, D.C., to again advocate for health benefits for 9/11 first responders. At the start of his 10-minute statement, Stewart said Tuesday's hearing was an "incredible metaphor." "Behind me, a filled room of 9/11 first responders and in front of me, a nearly empty Congress." Stewart said the lack of urgency to help these responders was a "stain" on Congress. "Your indifference cost these men and women their most valuable commodity: time," he said. "It's the one thing they're running out of."

Umm, someone should point out to Stewart, aka Jonathan Leibowitz, that Congress shouldn't be paying New Yawk's work comp claims.

A national tragedy, an International terrorist attack allowed by bush and Co, they were warned repeatedly, then an attack and Foxbots spew hate and show ignorance.
This is why America is so divided.

Another indication of the Con Oligarchy at work. It's about $ not morals , Always about the $.

As Stewart so excellently pointed out, the terrorists didn't cry out, "Death to Tribeca." The fact that you felt a need to point out that this patriotic American has Jewish heritage tells us all we need to know about you.

For every $1 in tax monies collected from Calaveras County residents more than $6 comes back in government salaries, ttransfer payments, grants, etc Talk about rural welfare. And that extra $5 comes from the wealthy regions like LA and NYC.

Mitch McConnell had over 100 pieces of legislation passed by the Democratic house that he refuses to act on. Meanwhile his wife secretary of transportation is embroiled in a scandal for funneling 78M to his district. Antisemitism is wrong.

I felt his statements were heartfelt. He doesn't need to be fighting so hard..but he is. We can all learn a lesson from him.

Oh, and FU Trump and the majority of the Republicans. They can all burn in Hell for what they're doing to our Country.

What do political sides have anything to do with speaking the truth on this very screwed up issue. He spoke the truth they did their job during a terrorist attack and we don't help them in return. When they risked their lives and are paying for it in a deadly way afterwards and now. If this is what america is now with you radical trump hate spewing retards we are going down. Can't even agree with someone just because of political party affiliates, too bad you can't see how sick you are. Unbelievable *bleep*s! How many of you rednecks had we well never forget in bold letters stuck to your big truck bumpers..all of you did. You're fake, big fat phonies. Just like your christian values, fake!

If the company next door to yours has a catastrophe that exceeds their workmans comp insurance, should your company make up the cost difference?

New York needs to take care of New York's problem.
If NY hadn't taxed all the conservatives out of the state they would of had some revenue producers still operating there.

And Calaveras should take care of Calaveras' problem? This county would go broke in minutes without Federal and State funds sourced from other richer localities. This county is filled with pure red conservatives and it is going broke.

Wow, Sept 11 is a New York problem? Anyone who thinks that can go *bleep* themselves. This wasnt just firefighters rushing into the chaos and smoke rather then running away from it. It was every day people like you and I too. No amount of workers comp can cover the 1,000's of people affected by that toxic ash. You are a sick bastard for even thinking that way while sitting there from the comfort of your computer. Sept. 11 was the reason i joined the Marines and ill never forget that day and neither should you! John Stewart was asked to champion for these people. He has done a fantastic job doing so. You little *bleep*s making this about a particular party are Shameful. I don't care what party John Stewart aligns with i support this cause and so shall we all. Calaveras is my hometown and i love many of the people there, but the comments here make me sick. Is this what my town has become!? You guys sit at home watching the news turn our country against each other and join in like a bunch of Monkeys. The Calaveras i grew up in could care less about party preference, we cared about people!

Ironic, after the towers went down all you saw was bumper stickers, flags magnets on cars and t shirts up here. Oh but now it's a new york problem? So.. these very people now say it's only a new York problem. Then you were all just showing pride for your country as a showcase. It was all show, can't get any lower than that. You were all just full of s h I t . See your true colors shining through...let me guess good christians also? Lol another lie.

Jon Stewart was right on target. If you were not there. If you did not loss someone. If you were not directly effected, then probably don't understand the depth of the issue.

First responders from over 310 Congressional districts worked on the WTC and Pentagon rescue and recovery missions. This is a national problem, not just a local to New York workman's comp issue. Let's see if McConnell stalls this in the Senate too like the 100's of other bills he is obstructing.
