Calaveras Sergeant Receives “Officer of the Year Award”

Murphys, CA...On June 6th, 2019 The Angels Murphys Rotary Club held their annual award ceremony at the Historic Murphys Hotel During the ceremony, several awards were given out to various members of the county. Sgt. Chris Dorsey received the Rotary’s 2019 “Officer of the Year Award”. Sgt. Dorsey was chosen to receive this honor due to his high level of dedication and his unwavering commitment to the citizens of Calaveras County. He is a natural leader in the department who displays exceptional standards of professional conduct. He is skilled at making sound decisions when under pressure and takes decisive action when needed.

Sgt. Chris Dorsey was hired in October of 2003 as a correctional officer. In September 2005 he attended the police academy and graduated in March of 2006. He promoted to Corporal in 2013 where he worked in our Office of Emergency Services division, Detective division and as a Field Training Officer training new Deputies. As a Detective, Chris worked several important cases including a Sexual Assault case, where there were two victims. The suspect in this case was recently convicted and received a sentence of 340 years to life after the end of a jury trial. Sergeant Dorsey was the lead investigating officer and did the entire investigation.

The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Department would like to thank Sgt. Chris Dorsey for his many years of service and look forward to his future success.
