Winter Weather Advisory Returns Sunday Morning. Snow Level Above 8,000 Feet

Arnold, CA...The latest detailed forecast for the West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada from the National Weather Service is below...Tonight, Mostly cloudy. At lower elevations, a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the evening, then rain showers after midnight. At higher elevations, a chance of rain showers, snow showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms in the evening, then rain and snow showers likely after midnight. Colder. Lows 26 to 40 higher elevations...37 to 45 lower elevations. No snow accumulation lower elevations...up to 3 inches higher elevations. Snow level above 8000 feet. Prevailing south winds up to 15 mph. Gusts up to 35 mph after midnight.





Sunday
At lower elevations, rain showers in the morning, then rain showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. At higher elevations, rain and snow showers in the morning, then snow showers, rain showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs 31 to 46 higher elevations...45 to 55 lower elevations. No snow accumulation lower elevations...4 to 9 inches higher elevations. Snow level 6000 feet. Prevailing south winds up to 15 mph. Gusts up to 35 mph in the morning.

Sunday Night
Mostly cloudy. At lower elevations, a chance of rain showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms in the evening, then a chance of rain showers after midnight. At higher elevations, snow showers likely with possible showers and thunderstorms in the evening, then a chance of rain and snow showers after midnight. Lows 24 to 39 higher elevations...35 to 45 lower elevations. No snow accumulation lower elevations...2 to 4 inches higher elevations. Snow level 6500 feet. Prevailing south winds up to 10 mph.

Memorial Day
Mostly cloudy. A chance of rain and snow showers in the morning, then a chance of rain showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Not as cool. Highs 39 to 54 higher elevations...53 to 61 lower elevations. Snow level 7500 feet. Light winds becoming west up to 10 mph in the afternoon.

Mostly cloudy. A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the evening. Lows 28 to 43 higher elevations... 39 to 49 lower elevations. Prevailing southwest winds up to 10 mph shifting to the northeast after midnight.

.A late season storm will bring light to moderate snow for
elevations above 6000 feet across central Sierra. This will
create difficult travel conditions for travelers this weekend.

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 5 AM SUNDAY TO 5 AM PDT
MONDAY FOR ELEVATIONS ABOVE 6000 FEET...

* WHAT...Snow expected. Plan on difficult travel and slippery road
conditions. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches around
I-80 and Hwy 50. Farther south, around Hwy 88, total snow
accumulationS of 6-12 inches, with up to 18 inches being
possible at the higher peaks.

* WHERE...West Slope Northern Sierra Nevada. Higher elevations of I-80,
Hwy 50, and Hwy 88 which includes the Donner, Echo, Carson,
Ebbetts, Sonora, and Tioga Passes.

* WHEN...5 AM Sunday to 5 AM Monday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Be prepared for reduced visibilities at
times.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will
cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered
roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.
