Murphys Park Going to the Dogs for 2019 with the Third Annual Mutt March & Muttminster Dog Show

Murphys, CA...Dog owners throughout the Motherlode, and their lovable pets, are invited to take part in the Murphys Community Club’s third annual Murphys Mutt March to be held on Saturday, April 27, at 10:30 a.m. “The Murphys area is home to so many wonderful four-footed-friends that we thought it would be a good idea to have an event where they could get together, have a good time socializing, and strut their stuff,” says Carol Roscelli, president of the Murphys Community Club. “The last two events were so successful that we decided to offer it annually. If you think your animal would be offended by being called a mutt, you can tell them it is simply a dog walk with a catchy title.”

The popular Murphys Community Park will be the assembly area. From there the participants will make their way down Algiers St. to Six Mile Road with a destination of Ironstone Vineyards. The marchers will enjoy this scenic area when it is at its lushest. At the turnaround, the route will take everyone back to the park for the drawing for prizes that will continue through the afternoon. All dogs must be on leashes.

“Along the way you and your pooch will benefit from fresh country air, stimulating interaction and laughter, along with a little exercise,” states Roscelli. “All this and helping to support our wonderful park.”

The registration fee is ten dollars, which will include a raffle ticket, bottled water, dog biscuits, and a refuse receptacle.

Muttminster Dog Show

Following the walk, there will be the Muttminster Dog Show put on by the Calaveras Canine Corporation starting at 12 noon. Canines will compete in a variety of categories. Registration fee for each category is $5. Dogs can compete in multiple categories.

Registrations for the Mutt March and the Muttminster Dog Show begin at 10:30 a.m. Pre-registration for the Mutt March will be available at Spence Ranch Feed & Supply In Altaville and NEXT Upscale Consignment in Murphys. All participating dogs must be spayed or neutered.

Vendors will be on hand selling dog-related items and food and beverages will be available for purchase. Activities will conclude by 5 p.m.

For information go to the two websites: www.MurphysPark.com and www.calaverascanine.org.

Sponsors of these events are Spence Ranch Feed & Supply, Mother Lode Veterinary Hospital, Gateway Press, Calaveras Humane Society and Sierra Hills & Natural Food Markets.

The Murphys Community Club is celebrating its 71st year of providing services and programs for the greater Murphys area. Its prime responsibility is the management and maintenance of the beautiful Murphys Community Park.

Murphys Community Park is located on Algiers St. in historic downtown Murphys. Membership in the Murphys Community Club is open to everyone and contributions are tax deductible. For further information, call 728-8093, or visit the website www.MurphysPark.com.
