The 14th Annual Gold Rush Writers Conference at Hotel Leger – May 3, 4, 5, 2019

Mokelumne Hill, CA...The 14th annual Gold Rush Writers Conference will be held May 3 - 5th in the picturesque Gold Country town of Mokelumne Hill at the historic Hotel Leger. The goal of the Gold Rush Writers Conference is to provide creative writers of all levels a chance to learn from established professionals through workshops, lectures, panels and readings. Limited to 80 participants, the conference prides itself on its intimacy and charm.

Opportunities abound for networking and developing community with like-minded individuals who share a passion for the written word. Even those who just love to listen are encouraged to attend. The conference in 2005 by New York Times bestselling author and Mokelumne Hill resident Antoinette May, with the help of a dedicated group of fellow writers.
The Gold Rush Writers Conference draws participants from the tri-county region of Tuolumne, Calaveras, and Amador, with some attendees traveling from as far away as Sacramento, the Bay Area, and beyond. Over the years, nearly 800 individuals have benefited from the conference, and numerous attendees choose to return year after year.

Past attendee Marianne Barisonek, a freelance journalist from Portland, Oregon, states, “I’ve attended twice and would go again in a heartbeat. The quality of the workshops has been outstanding. You’ll meet interesting people and be inspired. If you want to try a writer’s conference without spending a fortune, this is a good place to start.”

The 14th annual conference jumpstarts Friday night, May 3, with a picnic supper in a Victorian garden at the home of Antoinette May, followed by a poetry reading from featured guests and a chance for attendees to join at the open mic.

Saturday, May 4, offers a rich array of workshops throughout the day and ends with a dinner, followed by a
presentation (open to the public) by bestselling novelist Kathleen Kent. http://www.kathleenkent.com/

After the evening presentation, attendees are welcome to participate in an open mic reading before meandering over to the hotel's saloon to ‘schmooze’ with friends and enjoy a ‘nightcap’.

Sunday, May 5, offers additional morning workshops, then the conference winds down with a lunch and special presentation by bestselling author Joe Quirk.
