Traffic Update....Hwy 26 Estimated to Reopen at 5pm Today
West Point, CA...The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) expects to reopen eastbound and westbound State Route 26 (SR-26) on Wednesday, April 10, 2019, at 5:00 p.m. The repairs were needed to fix damage from a powerful winter storm that swamped Calaveras County on February 14, 2019.The closure was required to repair damage from multiple washouts that damaged the roadway.
One-way traffic control will be in effect beginning Thursday, April 11, 2019, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. to complete shoulder work and striping. There may be some additional work the week of April 14-20, 2019, but otherwise the project will be concluded and traffic control will be lifted entirely as soon as these remaining items are finalized.
You can see an update on the progress at this location using the following link: https://youtu.be/rusyYz_oU5Q.
Work is scheduled to begin as listed, but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment and/or materials and construction related issues.
