Bear Valley Racers Show their Depth at the Yosemite Silver Ski Race....Granger Hamilton Comes in 7th Place!(YAHOO!)
Bear Valley, CA....The Yosemite Ski team coach, Tom Medema, said “welcome to New Hampshire” in describing the cold and icy conditions on Saturday and Sunday March 15-16th. The Bear Valley Race team showed their technical talent however, by taking many of the podium spots and awards on both Saturday and Sunday. Some of the highlights: J4 Women: The Colonias Sisters: Kendal Colonias, 1st on Sunday and 2nd on Saturday. Jordan Colonias, 1st on Saturday and 2nd on Sunday. After 4 clean, fast runs, Jordyn was the 2nd Fastest Woman of the weekend, missing the Silver Ski Award by less than a second after 4 runs!!! WOW!.....
Other J4 places include Bailey Rimmer: 4th on Saturday and 8th on Sunday. Mackenzie Comstock: 4th Sunday and a 6th on Saturday.
J4 Men: Saturday: Patrick Cooke 3rd!! Colin Glenday: very consistently fast with 4th place finishes on both Saturday and Sunday. Stefan Nielson, also consistently fast and skiing with beautiful form, skied into 3rd on Saturday and 5th on Sunday, Jamey Wilson, in his first year on the race team, was 10th on Saturday. Erik Arvidsson, was 7th on Sunday.
J3 Ladies: Shelby White gets another podium with a 3rd on Saturday and a 4th on Sunday, Aline Bertrand also captured a podium spot with a 2nd on Sunday and 6th on Saturday.
J5-6 Women: Keely Cashman won her 7th race in a row for the J5 Women on Saturday! Claire Bertrand was 3rd and Libby Rimmer, 4th. Sunday: The Podium spots went to Claire 2nd and Libby 3rd. Aston Peckinpah from Sierrra Summit skied into first after Keely missed a gate. Great job ladies!
J6 Men : Sawyer Alford (who is actually a J-7) was 8th on Saturday and 5th on Sunday. Noah Cashman (also still a J-7) placed in the J5s on Saturday with an 8th place and was 2nd in the J6’s on Sunday.
J5 Men: Jordan Cashman makes a run at a perfect season with 2 wins! On Saturday, Granger Hamilton was the next BV skier to score points with a 7th place finish, followed by Noah Cshman in 8th. Cooper White was 2nd on Sunday and Nick Cooke was 3rd making a podium sweep for BVSEF. Karl Arvidsson was 7th and Nick Cooke in 9th
The Silver Ski Award, given to the fasted boy and girl after four runs went to J3 Racers: Grayson Tamberi from Sierra Summit and Caitlin Porter from Yosemite.
Congratulations to these fine skiers! Bear Valley Race Team skis hard and fast no matter how difficult the conditions are.
