Mark Twain St. Joseph's Hospital Hosts "Career Day!" ~By John Hamilton Updated with Video
Valley Springs, CA...Mark Twain St. Josephs Hospital and many other organizations rolled out the red carpet for the young aspiring Eighth Graders looking ahead to their futures. Friday Morning almost 300 kids streamed through the multi-purpose room at Toyon Middle School. There were booths and information on many different types of jobs to accommodate any skill set. Medical Careers, Management, Law Enforcement even Veterinary were represented. It was even exciting outside when a CHP Helicopter Crew landed one of their helicopters on the ball field and were giving batches of the students tours. A CHP cruiser and even the Calaveras County Sheriff Department's Hummer was in attendance and had the kids fired up to go do a search and rescue mission....

The purpose of the Career Day was to let the kids know that Businesses and Organizations in Calaveras County would love to have them back as employees when their education is complete.
The hospital did a great job spearheading the event. It was a great way to remind the kids that there are careers right her at home and many of the companies in the area would love to have them.
When these students enter the workforce in a few years there should be even more opportunities for local careers. With Copperopolis, Valley Springs and other areas in the county growing and a renewed focus on Economic Development youth of our area may not need to leave the Calaveras County nest to build their lives.
This career day will become a road show. The goal is to do a similar presentation at other middle schools in the county.
