San Andreas, CA....What is Backyard Orchard Culture? is the luncheon program topic for the April 9th, Calaveras County Garden Club meeting at the Blue House Bistro in San Andreas at 11am. Ed Laivo, Wholesale Sales and Marketing Manager for Dave Wilson Nursery, will explain his system of strategies and techniques that allows multiple types of fruit to be planted in a small space with tree size controlled by summer pruning. Mr. Laivo has over 30 years of extensive experience in plant production, marketing and....
management at both the wholesale and retail level. In 1993 Dave Wilson Nursery published Mr. Laivo’s system called “Backyard Orchard Culture”. Through product knowledge and marketing seminars for the nursery trade as well as lectures, fruit demonstrations and television and radio gardening shows for the public, he has introduced Backyard Orchard Culture to all parts of California and throughout the United States. A growing legion of universities, retail nursery personnel, agricultural extension agents, master gardeners, fruit hobbyists and garden writers have also helped to spread the work to fruit-growing regions. Here is your chance to learn from an expert the concept of high density fruit tree planting and ripening for the home garden. For reservations phone (209) 795-2969.
