Chelsea Lund Lost Her Life & Vehicular Manslaughter Charges Filed for Donald Jackson in DUI Collision

Valley Springs, CA...From San Andreas CHP..."It is with great sadness that San Andreas CHP had to investigate a fatal traffic collision last night, 12/23/2018. A 27-year old Valley Springs woman, Chelsea Lund, lost her life and we believe that a DUI driver was the cause of this collision. Fatal collisions are always horrible and being so close to Christmas makes this one so much worse."

Donald Jackson and Dusty Jackson were driving their vehicles northbound on Pettinger Road north of Messing Road. Chelsea Lund was driving southbound on Pettinger Road approaching them. Donald Jackson was illegally passing Dusty Jackson over double yellow lines directly into the path of Lund. Due to his level of intoxication, Donald Jackson failed to safely pass and the front of his Chevrolet Silverado collided head-on with the front of Lund's Chevrolet Cruze. The Chevrolet Silverado then collided with the other Chevrolet Silverado. Chelsea Lund was transported to Mark Twain Medical Center where she was pronounced deceased. The passengers in the Cruz were transported by life flight to UC Davis Medical Center for treatment of moderate to major injuries.

Further investigation at the scene resulted in Donald Jackson and Dusty Jackson both being arrested for Felony Driving Under the Influence. Donald Jackson was additionally charged with Gross Vehicular Manslaughter while Intoxicated.

Alcohol was a primary factor in this collision. This collision is still under investigation.

Condolences to the family and friends of Chelsea Lund.

Mr. Jackson, I hope you spend the rest of your life in prison for this stupid stunt.

And if you're one of those folks around here who ocassional pass on the double yellows because you think your agenda is so important, FUK YOU.

Could not agree more. Was passed on the solid yellow twice yesterday on Rte 4 between Angels and Murphys. Terrifying to think how many might be driving impaired if the case with two vehicles in a row. Condolences to Ms. Lund's family and loved ones. Imagine being that young child and losing your mom so close to Christmas.

While it is not ok to pass over double yellow lines, did you ever think that you should pull over and let those go behind you? You said it happened twice, that is quite telling that you were impeding others.

I do not drive slow, and still have others on my bumper sometimes telling me I am in their way. I just pull over as soon as possible and let them go. Why risk being injured with an idiot driving on your bumper should you have to stop quickly?

To the transplanted Flatlanders: GET OFF OF OUR BUMPERS!!! It is not safe up here to drive on bumpers like you did in the city. It is also against the law to not leave safe space between vehicles when driving.

No, I was going the speed limit. Actually, five miles over. The excessive speeding and crossing on a solid yellow is becoming all too common on our roads.

I drive 55-60 consistently and always have people on my back. If you tailgate me I'll even drive slower.

This is horrible. Prayers for the Lund family.

Sadly no punishment will bring the victim back or be severe enough to properly punish the drunk drivers. But I sure hope the justice system does its best to find a severe punishment.

To those valley springs finest, white trash commentators and grow marijuana references one question..why even give condolences? The victim was from valley springs so the excuses and insults are purely lacking any real heartfelt concern. And one can only assume this is what you call Good Christians. Here lies Trumpism, destroying any value of American kindness let alone conservatism.

Laws come from governing. Without politics there is no law. This is called anarchy, your comment is contracting. Yes an idiot didn't follow the law, well laws...driving intoxicated, passing on a double yellow and then killed someone and hurt two others. But is this suprising? Seems like it's a given in this county for d.u.i consistency, reckless driving, and someone almost always gets hurt or killed. Folks love their trucks and alcohol up here and nothing changes, just gets worse. I consider the lot of us lucky, I've lost a lot of friends from this kind of crap over the past 20 plus years. Sucks for this family, no one ever expects this with their own child, wife, husband ect.

To make it more clear to you.. when I say trumpism, I am only speaking of the division, hate and bigotry that's become welcoming with open arms in America. We have lost track of unity, and respect. Regardless of left or right views, it's now more of a war between the two instead of plainly respecting each others freedoms. Because of this it's bleeding through things it shouldn't and now it's acceptable, it's very sad. What happened is terrible. And arguing over it won't change calaveras mentality when it comes to drunk driving and crazy rude drivers.

And by the way, I personally know they were racing eachother and only one will be held responsible for her death. Sounds like neither our police department or yourself know the whole story one I've been hearing for decades. It's the same old story that ends with death and destruction. Crap parenting, crap police department, crappy decisions, addictions and none of these issues are ever important enough to bring to light in calaveras. Unless.. a marijuana plant is visible then it's the end of the fuken world. We are a joke. It's a shame we can't all advocate more for safety and courtesy upon eachother. Turning a blind eye is easier, its like when meth blew through here like a freaking tornado I've been watching this for far too long in this area.

Society seems to forget how rule of law works regardless how they feel personally about them. With out them we'd all be destroying eachother and everything else in between at a much faster pace than we already are.
