Ebbetts Pass Fire District Needs Your Help Deciding Our Future

Arnold, CA...Ebbetts Pass Fire District Needs Your Help Deciding Their Future. December 11th at 6pm, Independence Hall in White Pines. EPFD is funded, in part, by two special taxes that enable us to provide top notch FIRE and EMS services. The first special tax was voted on and passed in 1998. This provided additional staffing as a paramedic within the District 24/7/365. The second was voter approved in 2004. Which funded extra staffing and one full-time, paramedic staffed ambulances and a second full-time staffed fire station.

EPFD Ambulance transport is available to residents, at no of out-of-pocket charge, to this day. Our increased personnel has allowed us to achieve the highly sought after designation of ISO CLASS 2 fire department. This is only achieved by the top 2% of all fire departments nation wide!

The Problem: The two taxes were flat fees with no increases. Each was designed to fund its program for a period of 10 years. The District, through several cost saving measures, has been able to stretch these funds to last 15 and 20 years. The special tax budget for this year was 400k short with no capital outlay!

Questions to ask yourself: Do you know that living within an ISO Class 2 rated Fire District can save you hundreds of dollars on homeowners insurance as well as making more insurance carriers available?

Do you take comfort in knowing that when you call 911, Paramedics are just minutes away from you and your loved ones?

Do you know that if one our residents or their family member needs an ambulance transport to the hospital, we provide it with no out-of-pocket expense?

Do you take pride and security in having your local Fire District at its current level?

Do you want to keep your local emergency services at or above the current level?

Please join us and our Board of Directors at our Town Hall/Public Hearing as we work together to reach a solution!

Event occurs on 12/11/2018 from 06:00 PM to .

Waste the money wasted can provide. To many people in the wrong places. Boots on the ground. Technically, technology not the answer to common sense. To many chiefs no balls. Firefighters way today. Lack of everything they claim. Get to work you claimed run into a fire. What I’ve witnessed is. Blame the power company. Hope your belly is full. You folks can and shouldn’t point a finger. You should be the answer. Not worth of worrying and because retirement. Provide then prove me wrong. Just a chance I had half of 1 of you when it was on the line wouldn’t want you and my taxed payed boot lace. Imagine isn’t a firefighter.

Hope you bread crumbs in that district fall on demented walker. You took a double step back. Maybe that stopper can help. He’s supposed be treating water down in lil Stockton. Now I know why it taste like *bleep*. Cause that little man never is at work rates paid for the fella and is full of it. *bleep* h2o. Bud. Quite wasting money then do a job you didn’t do.

"NO MORE TAXES"???....when it comes to fire and EMS, that is one of the dumbest comments I have seen on this board in a long time....and as we all know there are some pretty stupid-ass postings. if you don't want first class fire services then please just leave our area. We don't need losers here.

    I support the EPFPD.

GO figure, right before old nasty meritta heavy taxes calloway gets in this starts popping up.

We need more money or we will go under. Really?

I just dont understand how leadership in California can write a check on Nov 20th for 30 million tax payer dollars to fun legal assistance of illegal mexicans being deported but not fund our brave firefighters.

Personally I think the EBFD should shut its doors, and drive its trucks over the pass back to America and leave until you idiots hire someone who isn't a tax spending democrat.

From the governor all the way down to Calloway, calaveras is not ruled by the radical left.
Statistically when this happens two things rise, Taxes and crime.
        God help you.

That's how we felt down in the Wallace to area too. We voted down an assessment for our Firefighters. Something like a $100.00 per year. My home owners insurance went from $763 per year to $2368 per year because of " inadequate fire protection". We still have insurance, others have been cancelled all together. I wish we could vote again, but ship sailed.

A BIG THANK-YOU TO THE WORKING MAN AND WOMAN
Posted on: 2018-12-11 07:15:38   By: Anonymous

Thank goodness for the working men and women who pay the taxes that have our firefighters protecting us, everyone should pitch in somehow, someway. Thank you to our firefighters, and the men and women who work and pay taxes, without you people working and paying taxes, we'd be a third world county. But I do know another way, know another way, maybe instead of having a truck load of firefighters go to the super market, just one guy should go and the other guys on the job can gather some of that dead pine and start splitting it and selling it? That could generate a lot of money too. Just imagine selling one cord of wood a week could go to that guy's grocery bill and that money would save a bundle of tax payers money to be spent on new equipment. I put $50 to $100 a week into my own slush fund for things I want, like a fishing vacation with a nice looking hooker I know who loves to fish. It works well and she goes home relaxed and a cooler full of Tuna, or halibut, but no crabs. Nothing like seeing a fine looking woman bending over while handling a pole. Down in Florida or the Gulf of Mexico when it's nice and warm, it's a beautiful sight to see, and she shows her appreciation that I love taking her there. The slush fund doesn't pay for all of it, butt it pays for her.
I love fishing.
MERRY CHRISTMAS
and again, thank you firefighters for everything you do AND protecting us and especially a big THANK YOU to all those good people working without you all those firefighters wouldn't be working for us.

I've needed Ebbetts Pass Fire Department EMS services a couple of times and found them prompt and knowledgeable. If it takes a little more in tax dollars to keep the service at that high level, I'm all in favor.

A point some of you might consider: If this is collected as an add-on to the property tax bill (as it currently is) then most of the money will be paid by the "flatlanders" you seem to despise. They get a property tax bill for their mostly unoccupied houses in Arnold just like all of us full-time residents do. What could be sweeter than that? You get to pick the pocket of those East Bay Democrats.

You are incorrect about their needing "gas money" to take the trucks to Big Trees Market. They take the trucks there SOOOOO if a call comes in they can respond immediately and NOT go back to the station to get the trucks, and firefighters/paramedics, etc. IF it were you in dire need of EPFD you would want them to get to you as fast as possible.

At a time when people across the state are being dropped from their homeowners insurance, or watching their rates skyrocket the fact that the EPFD district has an ISO 2 rating is huge for being able to obtain or afford insurance. Plus the added benefit of no out of pocket paramedic ambulance services! If helping to fund the local fire district for an extra $100 a year or so is going to potentially save me thousands on insurance costs, and absolutely going to save thousands if I ever need an ambulance, then sign me up! No one wants to pay more taxes, but this isn't the state or Feds with some mystery tax that we'll never see the benefit from, this is the local folks asking for help/input from the people they serve.

Go ahead and pay up. Insurance companies now know that the firefighters are not going to be saving any homes. It was proven in the Butte Fire and Camp Fire. The policy now is they let the fire get huge then run around trying to save a few people. More and more people will be canceled from home insurance. Even if you clear every tree, bush, stick or leaf off.

Now if you were going to start a fund for the County to have our own Phos Chek Bombers, I would be willing to contribute.

I'm pretty sure that most fire departments policy is more along the lines of, "Fight fire aggressively, having provided for safety first." And the thousands of people every year whose homes are saved by firefighters providing structure protection might disagree with the idea that they're just going to let homes burn. In conditions like the Camp Fire where the fire was moving at speeds up to 100 yards PER SECOND, houses and lives are going to be lost, and a whole squadron of phos chek bombers isn't going to be able to do much.
