HST Carrier Strike Group Enters Arctic Circle, First Carrier in Area Since 1991

Norwegian Sea.....Accompanied by select ships from Carrier Strike Group Eight (CSG-8), the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) traveled north to demonstrate the flexibility and toughness of U.S. naval forces through high-end warfare training with regional allies and partners. USS America (CV 66) was the last ship to operate in the area, participating in NATO exercise North Star in September 1991.

“We are unbelievably excited to be operating in the Norwegian Sea,” said Harry S. Truman Commanding Officer, Capt. Nick Dienna. “It has been over three decades since carrier aviation has been tested by this environment, and, despite the arduous weather and sea conditions, these men and women are demonstrating this ship can bring a full-spectrum of capabilities to bear anywhere in the world.”

The Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group (HSTCSG) will expand its compliment of capabilities off the coast of Norway, performing air, surface and subsurface operations while being confronted by the trio of freezing temperatures, fierce winds, and unpredictable seas. After honing its skills independently, HSTCSG will join 30 NATO allies and partner nations to participate in Trident Juncture 2018.

“Trident Juncture represents the best of NATO – a coalition of allies and partners working toward the shared interests of lasting peace and economic prosperity in the European region,” said Carrier Strike Group Eight Commander, Rear Adm. Gene Black. “This exercise is also a fantastic opportunity to learn from our Allies on their home turf.”

Trident Juncture will take place in Norway and the surrounding areas of the North Atlantic and the Baltic Sea, including Iceland and the airspace of Finland and Sweden from Oct. 25 to Nov. 23. More than 50,000 participants – including 14,000 U.S. service members – are expected to participate, utilizing approximately 150 aircraft, 65 ships and more than 10,000 vehicles in support of the exercise.

“The combined and bilateral operations we have conducted in the region over the last several months embody the U.S.’s commitment to our NATO allies and partners,” added Black. “Together, our maritime partnership creates a global network of navies capable of uniting against any potential threat.”

Currently operating in the U.S. Sixth Fleet area of operations, Harry S. Truman will continue to foster cooperation with regional allies and partners, strengthen regional stability, and remain vigilant, agile and dynamic.

Did you know that Michael is like Superman?

Michael helped the Bear Claw Bakery open its doors! And Soapworks! And CJ's! All of this without the "hurdles" of Planned Development. Golly Gee!

He then stopped a volcano from erupting west of Bear Valley. After that, he flew to Tennessee to help secure funding for our fox problem, too!

Michael did this while serving on the most committee of any supervisor (14), helping to grow new businesses in District 3 despite Planned Development hurdles and obstacles, and then working to remove PD.

He is working to streamline the processes to repair/replace bridges, obtained much-needed State and Federal dollars to assist residents afflicted with Tree Mortality.

Heck! We even have more fun festivals and a Christmas Parade, which he championed. There's so much more he's done in just 3.75 years. Thanks Mike!

I’m voting for Mike on July 19,2019!!!!

    Vote vote vote!!!!!

He secured funding for the Avery post office so it can get extended and now it will be two stories high!

He got a parking lot opened in Danville and is gonna get a sidewalk out in on Blue Lake Springs Drive! after that he is gonna make a double decker bridge for Murphy’s drive, that’s the only reason it’s taking so long. Jerry brown has to approve the new landmark! He did this while being on 14 committees and saving people in vallecito from tigers!

Ya! Go mike! Vote vote vote #july #trumptrain #deplorable

      Hillary endorses Oliveira!

Because of his new double decker bridge for Murphy’s drive and his technological advancements in bridge making for the moose lodge she has decided to enforce him!

That makes him not only the only elected official on 14 committees, but also nominated by the snowflakes and the deplorables!

Go Mikey go! Vote in July u can’t afford not 2!!!

Another whining democrat, you're the reason democrats keep losing. Your ignorance, your hatred, keeps the democrats where they belong, on the outside looking in, or in jail.
Bummer to be you, and that's a fact!!! Maybe when democrats start behaving like they care about this great country, trying to work with our President (and his personality does make it difficult) with our administration, instead of their own agenda things might be better for you all. But most of us who see you spit your venom out, your meanness towards others know that you just can't be civil.
Your acts of violence, your mean, hateful comments turn off people, and you just keep digging the hole you're in deeper and deeper. You and people like you are the reason that after 4 decades of being a democrat, voting democrat, I've changed to being a Republican, and more and more people have left the democratic party by your, and other democrats actions.
      Good Job, keep it up.

Do you even follow the news? Trump was just in Montana campaigning for a Republican who is on video body slamming a news reprter last year. Trump mentioned that incident and said it was a reason to vote for the guy.

Trump has spent his whole presidency inciting violence including violence against the news media.

So get real. It is Trump who is making America divided again.

And I do not believe you were ever a Democrat. You are not worthy to be one now so stay over with the violent, racist GOP and do not come back until you shape up into a nicer person.

It's an evolutionary adaptation that has developed over millions of years. For centuries the porridge birds had their eggs made into delicious porridge omelets by the neanderthals, but alas, laying their eggs in the air saves their succulent eggs from becoming our breakfast.

Oh yeah! She sponsored measure D to allow pot in every neighborhood and commercial district. Merita put $5000 of her own money into trying to get that ballot measure passed.
    It failed! FAILED!
She voted against businesses opening. Valley Stream auto parts

Stops growth! In the last debate said brick and mortar businesses are a thing of the past. Everybody orders online. But she shops local

So many inappropriate comments.
Why am I reading this anymore?
I thought that someone's son was on this Aircraft carrier.
What else would make it newsworthy of Local News?

Spirit of insults and inappropriate comments are wonderful assets of a president Who is so worshipped and honored for his greatness. Bow Down to him, and cherish him, for he will save you from yourself. Follow him into the darkest corners of your life. He will make you into what he wants.

People gather to watch car accidents too.

At Trump's announcement party in Trump Tower he paid people $50 to be in the crowd and watch him come down the escalator and then spout his racist hatred. They were badly underpaid IMO.

People gathering now for a Trump rally are either being paid to be there or are typical GOP welfare recipients with nothing better to do. Or maybe they are among the many now unemployed because of Trump's tariff tantrum.

Trump thinks the world needs more nuclear weapons. To make the world a safer place. He wants to put that on America’s credit card. After the rich got there big tax break. I think that account is maxed out. Oh I forgot, the middle class will pay for it. Just how much did the Donald contribute with his taxes? ZERO
