Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Providing Supplemental Law Enforcement Services Beginning October 1, 2018
Angels Camp, CA...As a result of recent staffing changes at the Angels Camp Police Department, the City of Angels will be contracting with the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office for supplemental law enforcement services beginning October 1, 2018.

The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office will provide deputies to the City of Angels to work with Angels Camp Police Officers to cover law enforcement responses inside the City limits from October 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019. This staffing arrangement between the City of Angels and Calaveras County ensures the same 24 hour 7 day a week coverage within City limits. The City anticipates resuming all law enforcemen t responses inside the City limits by July 1, 2019 when two recently hired recruits complete their required training.
There will be no changes in the way citizens report crimes to the Angels Camp Police Department. Citizens are encouraged to call 911 to report an emergency or in-progress crime, and to call (209) 736-2567 to report a non-emergency crime.
The City and County remain committed to public safety and we are proud of the collaboration and support of the City Police Department and the County Sheriff’s Office.

It's because they all QUIT because of your stupid, irresponsible, broke city government and unappreciative ignorant citizens that don't know what a good thing they had! Good luck dealing with the Cartel and the tweakers in your pathetic little town because your going to need it. God bless the dedicated officers that found better jobs.....you deserve it!!

agree curmudgeon they could put 3 - 4 resident deputies in the town, use the present station as a sub station and be far better off. this was even discussed as far back as the 70's when they should have done it.

ACPD is a waste of money. Fire them all! The sheriff patrols the town anyway on their way to other towns.

I'm sure they-ACPD- are doing a fine job and they like the sheriff's department help each other out-back up. For those uneducated about all this: You need to learn about the mechanics of this county's government on how it works and how the county collaborate with municipalities such as the City of Angels. So just kick back, relax, and enjoy the ride. Everything will be just fine and I notice that there is a good change in the city and the county and all these low lifes are gradually leaving. It just takes some time that's all. When there are criminals (which there are always some) then there are the police and sheriff etc who their job is to keep the criminals of the street; hence, the term "public safety." To protect and serve, and I believe they're doing a fine job at it. So keep up the good work ACPD and CCSO! Not to forget CHP and others too!

if ACPD is doing such a fine job like you say, then why did it take 3 hours to respond to a domestic dispute? why did they only have 1 officer on duty for the whole town? what a f'kn joke !!

it all went to hell in the late 70's through the 80's when they began hiring the newman police rejects. those were a joke of a time, the seriously good officers left for ccso and retired out of there. other quit went to crappier depts or jobs or were fired.

the best officer acpd ever had left for the ccso with his dog and after that the entire show turned into sh^t show. hell one officer had his teen daughter out in the middle of the party crowd then milked her for info about everybody. acpd has a seriously shady past that many do not want uncovered ever.
if you were not raised in this region you would have no clue.

AC has been bringing it's abandoned cats and dogs to the Calaveras animal shelter with no payment for decades, though technically their own entity. About time the City of Angels started paying something back to the county coffers.

And we still do not have town patrols. We do not have enough manpower to cover Angels too. By the way, there are not enough law enforcement in much of the U.S. you better get yourself some kind of protection if you don't already have it.
There are more and more dysfunctional mentally ill people coming every day to take what you have. It doesn't help that we have the Bay Area retiring up here to show off and flaunt their cars, homes and how much wine they can drink. It just attracts the evil element that preys on them.
