The Marijuana Eradications Continue in Calaveras County

San Andreas, CA...On September 6, 2018, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Team served two consecutive and unrelated search warrants. The first site was located in the 1400 block of Railroad Flat Road in Railroad Flat. This location was previously the site of an attempted marijuana robbery in October of 2015 which resulted in the shooting death of three persons. Deputies located a trailer with primitive living conditions and an outdoor cooking area, however, no persons were present at the time of the search warrant. 201 large marijuana plants were seized and destroyed pursuant to the search warrant. The investigation is continuing.

The second site was located in the 4400 block of Hunt Road in Copperopolis. This location contained several acres of olive trees. Deputies located an elaborate marijuana growing operation concealed within the rows of the trees which included raised planter beds, lighting, and irrigation. In total, 2097 marijuana plants were seized and destroyed from the olive orchard. The investigation is continuing.

Difficult to imagine the ballz especially when people were killed here. If anything, this speaks to the need for a regulated industry that will bring much-needed dollars to Calaveras.

Linking opposition to commercial cultivation with discrimination" is like linking Volvos with Rednecks. Doesn't happen. We research, we listen, we ask question, and we aren't buying the marijuana marketing mishap.

What a load of crap. "Regulation" failed. It was two years of everyone having to live with this fresh hell. No more. Ms. Giveaway in District 3 is trying to bring back "controlled enforcement structure" or some such garbage, just Merita-speak for wide open no-controls pot growing and manufacturing. No more.

Well, let's see about this stuff. Let's see who can add in this class. One pound of pot will sell for $3,000 dollars. How many dollars will you get if you have 2000 plants that yield 4 pounds each. |Wow! class. you got it right. That's $2,000,000.00 buck a roonies. Who in their right mind wouldn't want that in 6 months work. Now raise your keyboards and come up with some snide remarks like you always do.

Keep nailing these scumbags where it hurts, burn or bury their crop and go after the damn property owners for allowing it. Put leans on property owners to cover the expense of these raid and do more of them. Be nice to lock a few of these idiots up. There may be some medicinal value to this product but it causes way more negative than positive results in how it's grown, transported, sold etc. People get real, there is a lot of related crime to this business and very little true tax revenue since it's pretty much all cash. People get hurt, get killed and get ripped off in this business in so many ways. We don't need it. Commercial pot growers make terrible neighbors and draw undesirables to our county, we already have enough of those. The many meth folks up here will tell you, they all smoked pot on their journey to where and how they conduct themselves now. So sad.

Let's get some money out of them to clean up this county. BOS and all county government, you can't be proud of how the county looks.

And also interesting that growers with Dibasilio for Sheriff signs on their property aren’t being bothered. He doesn’t want to lose the good location for his signs. Most likely telling the MET not to mess with those locations until after the election.

As for old family growth-they may not even be doing that or they just haven't got caught yet. To camouflage plants between olive trees isn't too bright anyway. You can't outrun from a motorola, or computer, or hide from aerial survey these days!

Anyone who leased to a pot grower should have their head examined - and then consult a lawyer. They are responsible for this forever. They are liable forever, no matter if they sell the land.

Do owners of property that was rented or leased to pot growers have to pay Federal or State income taxes on their profits. Most of the growers and their employees don't get taxed but the IRS should go after these property owners since pot is illegal by Federal law. Then the county could lean on the Feds for more help and the property owners would be on the hook for some of it, yay, great idea! We need to send a few names in to the IRS.

The Merita Giveaway minions know that the only reason anyone would vote for her is if they are friends. She was a lousy supervisor. Check her record. Too many screw-ups to count. Plus she lies, plays dirty politics, and pressures people to to the point of blackmail. She's running around towns now pressuring people, trying to call in favors. Just go back to Forest Meadows and buy local.

So interesting that if you look back on at least 5 raids they have caught NO people there at the sites. They are either being tipped off or just bad stake out work.

Are you really this naive, stupid and slow? When a plane has flown over your very clear illegal crop of marijuana would you stick around or flee the scene. Well it seems you my friend would sit with your thumb up your bum picking buggers at the same time... as it seems your common sense is nonexistent. This really was a stupid comment you made, try thinking real hard next time. Not everything is a conspiracy Alex Jones.

Well then, they may want to change tactics to nail these growers. Or is their main focus to penalize property owners? It seems like that’s their focus, and rightfully so, however wouldn’t it be better to put the actual violators in jail so they don’t go and find another parcel of land to keep their operations going? Or is this a way to keep the MET going strong? Job security. You could also make your point without vulgarity.

The county is being tipped off by irritated neighbors (pot stinks, lots of traffic). In the case of Hunt road... no way could it be ignored with all those lights at night.

But do search for GeoNorth LLC. The county contracted with them for satellite imagery that uses algorithms to detect possible grows.

Just curious... if there is so much traffic then why haven’t they been able to time their raids to when the growers are there? I understand missing one or 2, however lately it seems like no one is at these grows. One might think with some strategic cameras and watching patters they could pick a high probability of the growers being there. Maybe with some coordinated efforts of the neighbors ( the ones that smell it and watch the traffic going by ) and their help they might catch a few more of them. Hopefully the MET team can have better success in the near future.

Probably because the jail is already full of violent felons, so locking up people for misdemeanor violations is really a waste of time and money. Gotta stop the bankroll to stop the grows, the workers are disposable.
