Marijuana Eradication Near Angels Camp

Angels Camp, CA...On 8-29-18 the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Team served a search warrant for an illegal marijuana grow in the area of Spring Hill Ranch Road in rural Angels Camp. The area was discovered to have 1361 marijuana plants in various stages of growth. The majority of the plants were immature which were likely a second planting of the outdoor marijuana season. There were 15 grow areas complete with watering infrastructure with a combined potential to produce 20,000 plus plants.

The mature plants were wilted as if they had not been tended to in days. Investigators believe that the area had been used for marijuana cultivation for several years as determined by layered trash in the area. MET investigators also found several environmental violations which included stream alterations, trash, rodent poisons, and pesticides near a waterway. No suspects were located during the service of the search warrant.

Huh, maybe you can charge them for thinking about growing pot?
No, wait we can't

Exactly. Can't imagine this person or persons has even grown a geranium much less marijuana. Spindly, no pruning, etc. Just because you can plant in the woods doesn't mean you can produce.

Still, a lot of environmental concerns there. It's like they packed up in the middle of the night and abandoned it all.

Not arguing with the irrigation upgrades as much as the plants haven't been cared for, which tells me they had plans... but left anyway for other reasons.

They were definitely tipped off. You have a mole in your team or a narc tipping them off. Every grow you raid there are extreme environmental concerns, especially for the neighbors. They are ALL wreckless environmental slobs. Hope you nail all these environmental pigs and those responsible for allowing this stuff to happen. Looking at the conditions there it wouldn’t surprise me if this weed made people sick. Better find out your informant or get on these raids faster.

Everyday that you dopers have to look over your shoulder is a great day.
Every time your farms are raided we smile.

With every dollar and ounce of sweat you invest in your criminal endeavors, with all the disrespect for our local laws and children and with the destruction of our environment we laugh when you are ruined.
Your money, your freedom, your children, and your assets stripped from you is what makes us happy.

Keep it up Law Enforcement! Great job!

Agree. And now that EVERY grow is illegal, it is easier for the SO MET to do their job. Get a picture; get a warrant; go in and bust the grow.

The operative word being "potential." Worse looking plants I've ever seen. Clearly these folks were more in love with the idea of making a few bucks than knowing anything about growing.

Could be that the grower/s were locked up/arrested and still in the pokey unable to come up with the minimum amount of bail...or the grower is on a drunken bender.
Either way thanks to the BOS for giving the green red green red green red light for cultivation in the first place. Like we don't have enough problems with alcoholics in the first place.
Way to go for our law enforcement personal.
(But I think you guys might have a snitch in your ranks notifying a grower of an up coming raid, I hope not)

Yes. Property owners are responsible, at least under federal law. It's difficult to know how these things are prosecuted locally anymore.

County and BOS, clean up the abandoned grows as well, what eyesores. Do it and put leans on the properties. Maybe then land-owners who rented or leased to grower/dealers will get the message and clean up. The community look like crap! It seems you can do just about anything you want in this county no matter how ugly and how it affects neighbor's! Come on!!!

It gets worse. Property owners who lease to growers are unknowing. The landlord has perpetual liability for any environmental releases or environmental degradation. That means forever.
