Donnell Fire Heat Map...

Bear Valley, CA...We normally don't publish the heat maps of the fires because they can be inaccurate and show heated air aloft etc. We thought this recent one of the Donnell Fire was illustrative though. It shows they are making good progress taking the heat out of the fire for much of the perimeter. On the south side of Spicer Reservoir you can see where the bulk of the fire's energy is today. Luckily there is plenty of water in the area for helicopter drops and Spicer should provide a barrier to growth to the north. Let's just hope firefighters can keep it from spotting or making turns around the lake.

It would be so helpful if they could try to get some containment in our direction so the fire does not spot or get a start in the Ebbetts Pass area. I know the main concern is Kennedy Meadows, but we here are vulnerable too and hopefully will be taken into consideration..

It's hotter there on the south side of Spicer because that's where all the granite is burning. It will probably continue east and north and burn all the granite right up the Highland Creek drainage.

Oh well, unbeknown our rescent winds are unpredictable. So, in this case, just let’er rip. They have a plan and, they’re sticking to it. Curious to see how this turns out!!!!

Agreed-was down at Spicer yesterday and with the winds it was horrific and hitting the switch. No visible air support-too cloudy and extremely thick smoke.

Nothing to do with getting a grip

This has nothing to do with getting a grip! It has to do with a wildfire not all that far from the Ebbetts Pass area that has no containment on the west/Bear Valley side. It is less than 30 miles from Arnold. 30 miles is from Arnold to San Andreas - not that far.

This section near Spicers is being treated as a Wildland Fire Module with MIST techniques. It is minimal impact and containment while watching it so"it doesn't blow up", to burn off over growth. That was in one of their a.m releases a few day back.

I sure wish USFS would answer the question as to why this fire/incident is listed in gov't data, (accessible fo the public, you just need to reasearch and find it, ) listed as a date of modificstion to the xata on JULY 24, 2018??? Fire supposedly started Aug 1. Something fishy there.
