Hwy 4 High Country Update....Campgrounds Open at Spicer & Alpine, Gates Closed Into Highland Lakes

Bear Valley, CA...We just checked in the the Alpine County Sheriff's Dept on the potential impacts of the Donnell Fire in our neck of the woods. Today they closed the gates back into Highland Lakes as a precautionary measure. Campgrounds are all open with the only changes is the Spicer has been closed to all watercraft. Probably so helicopters can dip from Spicer without need to watch for watercraft. The Donell Fire has entered parts of Alpine County. Luckily Spicer is a very long lake and natural firebreak.

Bow hunting season. No one should be there killing anything that survives the backfires that trap animals.

Bow hunting season??? Hang your bow on your front deck so, all your neighbors can admire it as they drive by. Perhaps take a picture of it, then fram the picture and hang it on their wall in your memory.. get it??

"then fram the picture and hang it on their wall in your memory.. get it??"
No it doesn't make sense. Fram the oil filter or "Fram is a ship that was used in expeditions of the Arctic and Antarctic regions by the Norwegian explorers Fridtjof Nansen, Otto Sverdrup, Oscar Wisting, and Roald Amundsen between 1893 and 1912."?

Either way you sound as dense as a rock. See what happens when you don't stay awake at school?

There are no evacuations at Highland Lakes because they closed the gate to get to them as it states in the article.

If the gates were open, then you wouldn't have to worry about them being closed.
