Ban Flatlander haters... Many years ago, I used to hate on Flatlanders too. Then I turned 16 and noticed our economy is nearly 100% dependent on them. I enjoy living in an area nice enough tourists want to come. They take photographs and leave dollars. Then we get to enjoy their nice restaurants, shops and recreation activities 5 out of 7 days per week. It’s like a roommate thats only home on weekend but pays all of the rent including your portion. Grow up. Think rationally.

Easy to see who you are under that cloak. You are a transplant flatlander business that is catering to rude Bay Area road warriors, or one of the political candidates playing the big role, drinking and partying right along with them. People who live here contend with the mess. Speeding drunks all over our narrow curving roads. Litter along all roadways, and more.

With the amount of wineries filling up Murphys the police logs should be full of DUI's. There is something very corrupt going on here. Murphys should have to hire some kind of police to walk the streets, and observe how long the warriors are sitting in the bars and wineries. And when they stumble out to get in a vehicle, stop them from driving our roads. All bartenders and those that pour need to be better educated on amounts to be served, and how to recognize all phony ID's especially out of state ones.

There are those who come to walk and buy in the little boutique shops, but the shops are getting less and less because wineries keep filling up the street. Far too many places to drink now, but an excellent place to make our county some money with DUI's now.

With all due respect, the majority of the empty beer cans and booze bottles I pick up along our back Murphys road appear between 3 and 6 pm weekdays. Don't have to be a rocket scientist to know this is haardly the litter of tourists but rather local workers who need to have one or two on their drive home and don't want to get caught with an open container.

Oh, please. Murphys is the one successful place in the entire county because of the vision of a handful of residents and an active business association. Shut down Murphys and that'll be the final proverbial nail in the coffin for Calaveras County.

No one even knows what that term even means anymore, especially in a place like California. This is just one of a handful of those good ol' boys who might have moved up here a few years ahead of the rest of us and now can't stand it that others want to as well. Also a retiree with too much time on his hands. The reality is the people I know who have lived here for generations are too busy working on their ranches to spend time commenting on social media.

Yes but it takes a whole lot of patience to wait for them to all die off.

In the picture, snapped in the darkness of a Wilton vineyard, Jack Kautz crouches behind a dead buck, smiling as he holds up the animal's head by its freakishly large set of antlers.

It was a buck for the record books with sprawling antlers about an arm's width apart. If Katuz 52, had been had been able to claim it is a official trophy, he could have added it to his long list of accomplishments detailed on the website of his family's Lodi grape growing business, Ironstone Vineyards.

These idiots think they own this entire area. From my 20 years living here, with their drug habits, most kick the bucket by about 55 years old. I’m sure the immature comments here fall in that category.

We can hope. Especially as they depend on the emergency room for health care.
